Olympia has improved one of the staple high-visibility options in their lineup for 2012 by releasing the Olympia Nova 2 Hi-Viz Vest. Designed for the rider who doesn't want to be glowing with hi-viz all the time, but does require it once in a while, the Olympia Nova 2 Hi Viz Vest features solid upgrades over its predecessor. Available in hi-viz neon yellow and neon red with sizes XS all the way through 4XL, the Nova 2 Vest is a great safety option for a multitude of riders. It also meets hi-viz military specifications so this will be a great choice for our military riding base.

The Olympia Nova 2 HiViz Safety Vest utilizes a blend of ballistic airflow mesh and 500D Cordura materials in the main chassis. Along with the hi-viz color, there are additional 3M Scotchlite reflective panels for an even higher degree of visibility. For this new version, the Nova 2 Vest has gotten an update in styling, with improved color blocking, and the chest pockets are now oversized for easier entry. At the left breast, the large see-through vinyl pocket allows you to prominently display your credentials. Beyond this features, there are two straps for cinching at the side of the body, a microfiber lined comfort collar, high-airflow mesh interior, four storage pockets and an interior cell phone pocket.

The shell of the Nomad is a mix of premium materials, with the MVP system utilizing ballistic airflow mesh, and 500D Cordura in the main chassis and 2000D Cordura in impact areas. This is one of the very few jackets we carry that utilizes 2000D Cordura, offering an enormous amount of abrasion resistance. While that is excellent in its own right, the other big feature on this jacket is that it will flow 30% more air than the GT Air Transition Jacket. This is thanks to not only the redesigned vent panels which are larger than before, but also the addition of the underarm vent panels. Speaking of the mega vents, they zip closed and velcro down in cold weather, but can be opened and tucked securely away into strategic pockets when it's hot out. (at right)

We've seen other manufacturers try to achieve comparable results and their efforts have resulted in clunky and cumbersome gear. With the Nomad, Olympia has designed a truly transitional jacket with two huge chest vents, two arm intakes, and two large back exhausts. All of these can be sealed closed when it's cold or opened for immense airflow when it's warm. Beyond that, there is a standalone two stage liner jacket featuring a waterproof breathable shell and removable Thermolite liner for warmth. The shell of the liner jacket is made of resilient ripstop nylon, and it's nice to see the finishing touches such as the very comfortable material that lines the high collar. There are also two waterproof pockets and an inner cell phone pocket on the liner jacket.

In addition to the CE rated Motion Flex armor found in the shoulders and elbows, the Nomad also comes equipped with a CE level 1 Motion Flex back protector, which is a nice upgrade over a standard foam pad. For visibility at night, there is 3M Scotchlite reflective piping at the back, front and sides, with thermowelded reflective panels (first seen on the AST 2 Jacket) on the side of each arm. The Nomad has five external storage pockets in addition to one inner pocket for a cell phone. The shell features a neoprene lined collar for comfort against the neck and there is adjustability at the collar, cuffs, elbows and waist for a comfort fit and accommodation of most body types. Lastly, there is an 8" connection zip to pair up with Olympia textile pants in addition to jeans loops.

The Olympia Nomad Jacket is truly one of the more unique products we've seen in the last year or so. With an insane amount of venting, true four-season functionality, and a hi-viz option, this is guaranteed to be a hit amongst tourers who need this degree of versatility. Rocking this jacket in 35º or 100º F weather, you'll be comfortable no matter the condition. Being able to use the waterproof breathable liner and the thermal liner together or separate truly affords the multi-season rider with a lot of flexibility.

Olympia Switchback Jacket Review

The brand new Olympia Switchback Jacket fills in a void in the lineup here at RevZilla.com, the likes of which we haven't seen in several years. Olympia, seeing the need for a product of its ilk, has come out with the Switchback, which is an iteration on the Bonneville from years past. The Switchback is a huge progression forward, from a style and function standpoint, from the Bonneville, and offers riders a multi-season all-weather-conditions jacket option. Also available as the Olympia Switchback Ladies Jacket, these two will shine when the weather is warm, but offer the versatility of a removable waterproof breathable liner for when the warmer weather turns foul. We are very excited about this product for the 2012 riding season.

The shell of the Switchback is 500D Cordura with ballistic airflow mesh paneling. The Cordura will provide excellent abrasion resistance while the ballistic airflow mesh will create the type of ventilation for which this jacket will become known. Beneath this is the standalone waterproof breathable liner, which is made of ripstop nylon and can be worn on its own when you're off the bike. We're happy to see Olympia take some steps forward with the finishing touches on this jacket, such as the finished high collar which uses soft moisture-wicking materials for comfort either with the liner in or out. The internal lining of the shell is a cool mesh material that will keep you comfortable all day long. The collar of the shell uses neoprene for comfort against your neck.

For protection, there is CE rated Motion Flex armor at the shoulders and elbows, in addition to a CE rated Motion Flex back protector (a nice upgrade to come standard). The Olympia Custom Fit system offers flexibility of adjustment at the collar, cuffs, elbows and waist, making this a great option for riders of all sizes. This jacket features three storage pockets along with an internal pocket designed for cell phone storage. There is 3M Scotchlite reflective paneling at the front, back and sides, ensuring visibility in nighttime riding situations. In addition to an 8" connection zipper to pair the Switchback up with your favorite Olympia pants, there are also jeans loops to keep it from flapping around when you're choosing to ride in denim.

Arai XD-4 Helmet Review

The Arai XD-4 Helmet is certain to be one of the most sought-after helmets of the upcoming riding season as it replaces, and provides significant upgrades over, the leading dualsport helmet on the market, the XD3. Every serious ADV and dualsport enthusiast out there recognizes that the XD-3 is the pinnacle of this category, and Arai hopes to build on its success with the release of the Arai XD4 Helmet. With improvements to ventilation, fit and aerodynamics, we have no question that Arai has achieved what they set out to do.

Arai XD-4 Hi-Viz Helmet

Let's dive right into the upgrades that are found on the Arai XD 4 Helmet. Starting with ventilation, the venting at the face has been improved with redesigned chin vents and the addition of brow vents. Seen on other Arai helmets, these brow vents have been a hit amongst riders wearing the RX-Q and others. Channeling air directly to the forehead, these brow intakes are a significant improvement in overall ventilation. The chin vent has added two additional intake holes to draw even more air into the helmet. The side-of-chin vents feed the FFS (Free Flow System) which is designed to suck air around the lower portion of the helmet, increasing airflow and preventing shield fogging. The top-rear exhaust vents have been improved as well, the addition of two divots that help to pull more air through this lid.

Arai XD-4 Explore Helmet

Next up is the interior fit of the helmet. Using technology that we first saw in the Arai Vector 2 Helmet last year, the new XD-4 Helmet is using the FCS (Facial Contour Support) system in the cheek pads, which utilizes an additional 5mm of peel-away foam padding at each side to allow for a custom fit. This is also found at the temple pads of the comfort liner. By having a total of 10mm of adjustability at the temples and cheekpads, it allows the rider to avoid having to buy new cheekpads or a comfort liner if the fit is slightly off, making this helmet more accommodating to a wider range of head shapes. Both the liner and cheek pads are now using DryCool fabric, an upgraded antibacterial and moisture-wicking material. Everything is fully removable and washable, including the chinstrap covers.

Arai XD-4 Helmet - Solid

The shell has been redesigned for aerodynamics to allow for more stability at higher speeds when using this helmet on the street. A glance at the XD-3 and the XD-4 makes it easy to see that the profile of the new helmet is sleeker than it was previously. The shield now features a locking mechanism which further enhances the wind-cutting ability and reduces turbulence. The shell is the Arai CLC which is a combination of fiberglass and exotic fibers resulting in a lightweight yet strong construction. The new Arai XD-4 Helmet also features both DOT and Snell 2010 safety certifications. To us, it seems as though the best just got even better.

IMS Show NYC 2012 & RevZilla

For some it was their first time, for others it was the yearly tradition, but for all it was an eclectic presentation of motorcycle personality in all shapes and sizes. This year’s New York International Motorcycle Show, held at the Javits center, drew large crowds of enthusiasts and a variety of vendors and manufacturers. Though the aisles were filled with custom choppers, excessively stretched swingarms, and some retro rebuilds, the major players didn’t have a whole lot that was new and exciting in my opinion.

There were a few exceptions; one of which was, of course, Ducati. Ducati’s 1199 Panigale got center stage billing. The stage, lighting, and fashion show provided by Ducati was quite a performance. People still flock to the Diavel as well, even though it is old news by now. The other manufacturer that stood out was Evolve Electric Motorcycles. Though much of their offerings seemed to be conceptual in nature (including the Tron bike from the movie!) it was good to see alternative power technology so prominently displayed. They made the prospect of picking up an electric motorcycle at your local powersports shop seem quite plausible. Probably the most interesting bike at the entire show, was the BMW Turbocharged HP2 Sport, nicknamed “Slugger.” Pulling a ridiculous 202hp, the entire frame and suspension is highly modified to withstand the insane amount of torque this bike produces. Oh, and it weighs less than 400lbs.

On the vendor side, both Shoei and Nolan brought their new, not yet released, modular helmets. As a previous Multitec owner, my standards were high for the Shoei Neotec. It did not disappoint as it offered the same ease of use that I remember from the Multitec, while adding several key features. The biggest addition is the drop-down sunvisor, but the fit has improved and the whole helmet seems lighter and quieter than its predecessor. The biggest plus comes from the reputation and dependability of the Shoei brand - you can be assured that there won’t be very many of these returned on warranty. On the other hand, the new Nolan N104 totally beat the price point. In addition, you can also purchase the new integrated bluetooth with it for only marginally more than the Shoei Neotec costs. The fit has improved, and the sunvisor will auto-retract at the press of a button. Personally, I think the biggest selling point will be the super-wide periphery of the faceshield. The only other notable I came across were a few new products from Givi in both the hardcase and softpack categories.

Most of all, it was great to take a day to hang out with a few thousand people that share the same interest as I do. The strong sense of community that permeates when large groups of bikers gather in one place combined with a New York City pizza for lunch was enough to make the day for me.

Shoei Neotec Helmet Review

Brand new for 2012, the Shoei Neotec Helmet takes the concept of one of the most popular modular helmets on the market, the Multitec, refines and redesigns, adding features to produce what we see as one of the most super premium flip-up helmets on the market. Shoei absorbed all of the feedback from the motorcycle community who had been riding in the Multitec, figured out ways to improve upon it, and created a modular helmet that is extremely aerodynamic and vents a claimed 276% more air than its baby brother. The Shoei Neotec Modular Helmet is an absolute home run product and we can't wait to see how it is received by the riding community.

Starting off with the changes to the Shoei Neotec versus the Multitec, let's run them down in bullet form:

Retractable internal anti-fog and anti-scratch sun visor, with the smoothest mechanism we've seen, that provides ample coverage over the eyes and down the nose (an issue with some other drop-down sun shields).

Pinlock-ready CNS-1 shield, which is wider and taller than the Multitec's shield and includes a pinlock insert for fog-free riding.

New ventilation scheme with a redesigned top intake vent and a brand new rear exhaust vent. Redesigned channels within the EPS pull the air through and cool your head while riding.

Cheek pads and comfort liner are now fully removable and washable. 3D design of interior is more comfortable and contours around the chin for a tighter seal. Cheek pads now feature a notch to allow a better fit with eyeglasses.

Hinge mechanism is now on same axis as shield mechanism (Multitec had two separate hinges). This reduces the weight of the helmet and improves aerodynamics. In addition, the Neotec is using a 360º locking system for the hinge, which is a stainless steel mechanism that essentially scissors around the post rather than the simple "J" mechanism used by other modulars.

The sealing of the shield has been improved, with a double sealing lip on the rubber gasket and a double ridge at the top of the shield, which will aid in noise and prevent any water from ever seeping into the helmet.

Vortex generator lips have been added along the ridge of the flip up portion along the jaw. Shoei found that this ridge was creating wind noise and slight turbulence. To combat these ills, the vortex generators channel the air in a way that improves aerodynamics and directs the air away from the internal sun visor mechanism that was causing the source of the noise.

Removable cushioned ear pads for easy, seamless integration of bluetooth communication device.

Improved overall design of EPS. Most modulars reduce the amount of EPS at the top, front of the head to accommodate the drop-down visor. The
Neotec has the same thickness of EPS in this area, as the drop-down visor has been incorporated into the shell. You'll notice a slight protrusion in this area which, in addition to housing the sun visor, also creates better airflow by forcing air into the top vent.

Three shell sizes as opposed to two shell sizes used by most modular helmets, including the Multitec.

Removable breath guard and chin curtain.

Beyond this enormous list of upgrades over the Multitec, the Shoei Neotec is using the AIM multi-composite shell construction, which is a five-ply shock-absorbing fiber shell. It is also using the standard Shoei multi-density EPS liner which provides ample impact protection. The chin vent has been redesigned and flows air directly to the face and shield. Both the internal sun visor and external shield feature full protection from harmful UV rays.

The Neotec Helmet is an absolute home run. We are extremely pleased with the big steps forward that Shoei has taken with their new modular, and it is certain to continue their storied tradition of high-performance motorcycle

Avon 3D Ultra Sport Supersport Xtreme Tire

The brand new Avon 3D Ultra Sport Front Tire and Avon 3D Ultra Sport Rear Tire utilizes some brand new technologies to produce a tire that will perform extremely well for the sport and supersport rider. Using brand new 3D sipes, there are three-dimensional interlocking points within the siping that improves overall grip and stability, reduces flex of the trea, and help the tire to get warm in a hurry. The Avon 3D Ultra Sport Tires are also using new belting that is a brand new design of wind-on-belt material on the rear tires, ultimately increasing the footprint size and overall grip.

The Avon 3D Ultra Sport Tires are also using brand new Triple Extrusion tread compounds. Essentially, by using different rubber materials in strategic areas of the tires, Avon can use durable rubber in the center to extend life of the tire with softer compounds on the shoulders to ensure a high degree of cornering grip. There is an additional compound used underneath that binds these together and keeps the tire from overheating which increases the lifespan.

We look forward to getting a look at these tires in the near future for a detailed breakdown and also are excited to put some track miles on these in the upcoming season.

These tires have a total of three versions. They are also available as the Avon 3D Ultra Xtreme Front Tires and Avon 3D Ultra Xtreme Rear Tires which are designed for track days only. Lastly, they are available as the Avon 3D Ultra Supersport Front Tire and the Avon 3D Ultra Supersport Rear Tire.

Dunlop Roadsmart 2 Tires

Designed for sport touring riders, the brand new Dunlop Roadsmart 2 Rear Tire and front tire represent an innovative design that should deliver sport tourers exactly what they desire. Long-distance and sport touring riders require several specifications from their tires. These include responsive handling, high traction, lengthy tread longevity and great performance in wet weather riding. The first Roadsmart delivered all of these necessities and the brand new Dunlop Roadsmart 2 Front Tire and rear tire escalate these characteristics to the next level.

The cosecant-curve grooves are still evident on the front tire, but the shape and placement has been redesigned to be more efficient, resulting in even wear, reduced squirm and increased longevity. At the rear, Dunlop utilizes a multi-tread design which is a high-grip compound on the shoulder, with a longer-wearing compound used in the center. This results in high degrees of tactile feel and grip but also excellent performance in the corners. The Dunlop Roadsmart II Front Tire and rear tire are also using brand new rubber compounds that incorporate silica, which greatly assists in water dispersion in rainy conditions and promotes extended tire life.

Alpinestars Women's Stella Paradise Air Jacket - built from an abrasion resistant 450D polyester shell, the Paradise Air features extensive mesh inserts in non-impact areas for a high degree of airflow in warm weather riding. Beneath this is a removable full-sleeved windbreaker that will seal out the cool air when temps are a bit cooler. The Alpinestars Women's Stella SMX-2 Air Carbon Gloves represent the female version of the most popular short cuff riding glove we've ever seen. Right around the $70 price point, the SMX-2 Air Carbon Gloves offer a ridiculous amount of bang for the buck. A leather and mesh upper, synthetic leather palm with clarino reinforcements, the standout feature is the carbon fiber hard part at the main knuckle and extreme comfort and airflow these gloves provide. Designed for the sport rider in warm weather riding conditions, these gloves will be extremely popular in the female sport riding sect.

Alpinestars Women's Stella SP-2 Gloves - a gauntlet that will get you on the track, the Stella SP-2 Leather Gloves feature a full goatskin and cowhide leather construction for extreme abrasion resistance and tactile feel. Another riding season, another slew of new gear from Alpinestars that further solidifies their reputation as a leader in the motorcycle gear industry. In this write-up, we're going to focus on the new glove choices that are part of the Alpinestars Spring 2012 Gear lineup.

Alpinestars SP-2 Gloves (2012) - a redesign of the a long-running gauntlet in the AStars lineup, the Alpinestars SP-2 Gloves offer a lot of features and functionality at an extremely reasonable price point. A mix of goatskin leather (at the palm and fingers) and cowhide (at the backhand), these gloves provide tactile feel and a ton of protection. There is a hard part carbon main knuckle protector with foam inserts at the fingers and lateral side of the gauntlet. Alpinestars Octane-S Moto Gloves - a previous standout as a short cuff riding glove that could crossover from sport riding to supermoto, the new Octane-S has received a style upgrade but remains true to what it was in its previous life: a highly protective short cuff glove that will flow a ton of air and be extremely comfortable in all hot weather riding scenarios. A full-grain leather upper, hard part main knuckle armor, and large perf scheme are some of the standout features of the Alpinestars Octane S-Moto Gloves.

Alpinestars SP-X Gloves - one of the most protective short cuff sport-focused riding gloves in the AStars lineup has received a style makeover for 2012. The SP-X is a full goatskin leather construction with air mesh inserts to keep you cool and protected. Carbon fiber protectors are found at the main knuckle and three first fingers, all of which is backed by foam for added impact protection. Double layered leather can be found in key areas while the 3rd-4th finger bridge protects the pinky in impact.

Alpinestars SP-X Gloves Review 2012:

The popular Alpinestars Scheme Kevlar Gloves from last year have gotten themselves an upgrade as we move into 2012. Rather than the denim of last year's model, the new Scheme Kevlars feature a Clarino, 3D mesh, PU and synthetic leather shell. There is still that great carbon fiber armor in addition to the Kevlar lining, but they've toned down the recklessness of the denim shell and made this into a more viable sport and touring option. Comfortable and protective, these gloves provide a ton of bang for the buck.

Featuring a very abraison-resistant 600D polyester shell with a PU coating, the standout of the Oxygen Air Pants (obviously) is the extensive mesh paneling at the thighs that will rush air in for cooling in the hot weather. Beyond that, CE rated armor protects at the knees, and for convenience, the zippered gusset at the ankle allows you to easily accommodate boots under these pants.

Alpinestars Quick Seal Out Two-Piece Rain Suit - a new two-piece rain option from Alpinestars that is available in a burning-sun-bright hi-viz option, this is the sort of gear you want to have stowed in your side case as it will definitely save your day in the event of a downpour. The shell itself is waterproof breathable and the entirety features taped seams for absolute protection from Mother Nature's wrath. A double storm flap at the front helps seal out the elements, while the adjustability at the waist, hips, collar and ankles allow you to cinch this down and ensure that there is no flapping. Both the black and hi-viz version feature reflective piping for nighttime visibility.

In this write-up, we're going to take a look at the six products that we think are the true highlights of this new round of gear from Alpinestars. First up is the Alpinestars TZ-1 Reload Leather Jacket. Featuring a classic leather jacket style that will fit into many different riding styles, this brand new jacket packs in a ton of functionality and features at a reasonable price point for a premium leather jacket. Succeeding the old TZ-1, the brand new Alpinestars TZ1 Reload Jacket features a 1.1mm full grain leather shell with a lot of perforation, CE rated Bioarmor in the shoulders and elbows, and pockets for the Bionic Chest Pads and CE rated Bio Armor back protector. There is also the new snap connection system which allows you to incorporate the CE Level 2 Bionic Race Back Protector. There is a 360º zip for pants-connection and a really slick blacked-out color option.

Alpinestars TZ-1 Reload Leather Jacket Review:

Next we have the Alpinestars GP Tech Air Leather Jacket. This jacket represents the new top of the line leather jacket in the AStars lineup. This jacket is the top half of the Alpinestars Race Replica Suit, which is also brand new for spring 2012. Featuring the same 1.3mm premium full grain leather used in their race suits, the GP Tech Air Leather jacket has a full perforation scheme for maximum airflow. There is CE rated GP armor in the elbows with Bioarmor in the shoulders and pockets for chest protection and CE rated back armor. There is also the snap connection system for the CE Level 2 Bionic Race Back Protector for maximum impact protection. TPU sliders are found at the shoulders and elbows along with a perforated speed hump. The removable vest liner is windbreaking and features mesh lamination for moisture-wicking.

Alpinestars GP Tech Air Leather Jacket Review:

The Alpinestars T-GPR Air Jacket is the textile/mesh version of the extremely popular GP-R Leather jacket that was released at Indy last year. This version features an abrasion-resistant 600D polyester chassis with mesh panels that are hydrophobic and resistant to soaking with water. There is CE rated Bioarmor at the shoulders and elbows with pockets to upgrade the chest and back protection. Inside, there is a water-resistant and windproof full-sleeved removable liner that will come in handy in some of the more foul times of the warmer months. There is a 360º zip to pair with your favorite AStars textile pants, reflective paneling at the sleeves, adjusters at the wrist and waist, and overall tremendous branding.

Alpinestars T-GPR Air Jacket Review:

Next, the Alpinestars SMX-3 Air Gloves are a new glove option for warm weather riding. The chassis of the Alpinestars S-MX 3 Air Gloves is high-airflow mesh and goatskin at the backhand with abrasion-resistant synthetic suede at the palm. EVA foam protects at the main knuckle while TPR inserts at the mid-digits and backhand add more protection and an element of style. At the palm, synthetic suede overlays provide durability and abrasion resistance while the dense foam panel at the base of the palm provides shock absorption. We're big fans of these gloves and see them nicely complementing the rest of the short cuff warm weather gloves that AStars offers.

Alpinestars S-MX 3 Air Gloves Review:

The brand new Alpinestars Fastback WP Shoes offer the sport and street rider with a mid-cut riding boot that is completely waterproof and breathable. A different take on last year's Fastlane, the Alpinestars Fastback Waterproof Shoes feature a shell constructed of oiled suede leather, synthetic leather and textile, backed by a waterproof membrane. There are TPR protectors at the ankles, toe and heel counters tucked under the leather and a TPU toe protector. At the top of the toes is a textured shifter panel and these boots also feature a speed lacing system with a velcro strap to keep the laces tucked down. The high-grip rubber sole features a slimmer design at the front for flex with a higher arch for support and durability.

Alpinestars Fastback WP Shoes Review:

Our last highlight of this product lineup are the Alpinestars S-MX Plus Gore-Tex Boots, which build on the innovation of last year's new SMX Plus Boots but add even more functionality. A synthetic leather upper, the standout features of these boots are the Multi Link Control system, which protects the ankle from hypertorsion, hyperflexion and hyperextension while adding impact protection, and the Gore-Tex membrane, which is the most breathable of all waterproof membranes. In addition, there is a TPU shin protector, a replaceable TPU toe slider and a brawny TPU heel cockpit. The Alpinestars S-MX Plus Gore-Tex Boots are an exciting new sport and sport touring option for this season.

Utilizing the same innovative Multi Link Control system for ankle protection (which limits hypertorsion, hyperextension and hyperflexion), the Alpinestars SMX Plus Gore Tex Boots are extremely protective and comfortable for the sport and sport touring rider. The shin armor is a high-modulus TPU plate which protects from that common footpeg-to-shin injury. The ankle is protected at each side by TPU protectors while the toe features a replaceable TPU slider. The Alpinestars S-MX Plus Gore-Tex Boots also feature a contoured EVA footbed that lends arch support and pedal feeling in the forefoot but is also completely removable if you so choose. The brand new Alpinestars Fastback WP Shoes are a spin on last year's Fastlane model, but feature added functionality with a waterproof breathable membrane. The Alpinestars Fastback Waterproof Shoes feature a combination of materials at the upper, utilizing a mix of oiled suede leather, synthetic leather, and textile fabric. Behind the shell is a fully waterproof breathable membrane to keep out all precipitation but allow your foot to breathe. For protection from impact, there are external TPR panels at the medial and lateral sides of the ankle, a TPU toe protector, internal toe and heel counters layered beneath the leather and a shift pad that features a debossed texture for grip on your shifter. At the sole, there is a steel shank for impact protection and rubber sole is slimmer at the forefoot for mobility but has a higher arch area for support. The Alpinestars Fastback WP Shoes also use a speed lace system and feature a velcro strap to keep the laces in place. The brand new Alpinestars SMX 3 Air Gloves are another warm weather glove option from AStars. Built on a chassis of abrasion resistant goatskin leather and high-airflow mesh, the Alpinestars S-MX 3 Gloves feature EVA foam knuckle protection with a synthetic suede palm and strategic durable Clarino overlays. As always with AStars, there are stylish TPR injected panels and logos on the backhand and fingers that also add another degree of protection. The brand new Alpinestars T-GP-R Air Jacket is the natural progression forward from the T-GP Plus that we saw last year. As we see Alpinestars often do with their leather and textile jackets, the Alpinestars TGP-R Air Jacket is modeled directly off of the extraordinarily popular GP-R Leather jacket. First off, we have to mention the dope new colorway that is pictured above. Alpinestars has been dabbling recently with utilizing this fluorescent yellow in some of their new gear. We first saw it the new Carver Suit and Supertech-R race boots, and now we're seeing it in the new textile Alpinestars T-GP-R Air Jacket. The chassis of the T-GP-R Air Jacket is an extremely abrasion resistant 600D polyester with hydrophobic mesh panels that resist soaking with water. Inside, there is a full-sleeved removable windproof and water resistant liner for when the weather is chillier. CE rated bioarmor protectors are found in the shoulders and elbows and the chest and back can be upgraded to the Bionic Chest Pads and the CE rated Bio Armor back protector. A full 360º zip, waist and wrist adjustments utilizing micro-velcro, and reflective paneling on the arms round out the feature set of the brand new Alpinestars T GP-R Air Jacket.

Scorpion Helmets has just unveiled their brand new helmets and graphic options for Spring 2012. There are two new graphics of the Scorpion EXO-500 Helmet, two of the Scorpion EXO-400 Helmet, one completely new open-face lid in the Scorpion EXO-250 Helmet and a new ladies-specific option for their Scorpion EXO-100 Helmet model. For those looking for a new race suit, you should definitely consider the Track Wind Pro with its awesome look, performance and protective qualities. Thanks to extensive testing with their sponsored MotoGP riders (Melandri, Edwards, Crutchlow), Spidi has been able to create something that performs to the spec required by professional riders.

Spidi has already done an excellent job with making protection look stylish with their triple leather layer shoulders, a feature that immediately pops out when you look at this suit. Leather over leather over leather equates to excellent abrasion resistance in a high impact area. The main composition of the suit is a mix of perforated and non-perf race grade cowhide allowing you to stay comfortably cool on the track thanks to the perforation while providing solid resistance to abrasion. As it has with most of its new lineup, Spidi uses its very own Tenax stretch panels on the suit to provide great flexibility and movement in areas that require an unparalleled degree of mobility.

Spidi uses a combination of different proprietary CE Rated impact protectors in the Track Wind Pro. At the shoulders, you'll find Spidi's dual-density Biomechanic protectors with a hard shell exterior and shock-absorbing foam backing. At the elbows are the Force Tech protectors and the hips and knees use Spidi's Multitech armor which has a molecular property to it, making it malleable yet very impact resistant. The knee armor is also height-adjustable, ensuring the best possible fit and coverage. The back and chest feature pockets to accomodate armor. At the back, you can add a Warrior Back Protector (either CE Level 1 or 2) and the chest can house the Warrior Chest Protector. Intake vents on the shoulders feed exhaust vents at the back for additional airflow and the race hump at the back provides additional protection, aerodynamics and can accommodate a hydration pack (sold separately). As one would expect from a race suit by now, there are elasticated stretch panels beneath the arms, on the knees, and on the lower back for solid mobility when you're racing. For your comfort, Spidi has made the lower portion of the leg slim making it easier to fit into a boot.

All in all, the Spidi Track Wind Pro Race Suit definitely is one of their more stylish products out there, and with all its protective features is one of, if not their best race suit yet.

Spidi is a fairly well known brand amongst riders everywhere and it's no surprise with all the great products they supply. If you are in the market for a Motorcycle Leather Jacket, the Track Leather Jacket definitely deserves a look considering it is Spidi's top end leather jacket.

Lets check out the Spidi Track Leather Jacket Review:

Unlike most of their newer products, the Track Leather Jacket has a generous cut enabling you to buy it in your American size rather than upgrading by one size. The primary construction of the Track Leather is premium race grade cowhide which is one of the best leather materials you can use for abrasion resistance. The shoulders feature a triple layer of leather protection on top of the armor for a combination of impact and abrasion protection. The primary armor they use here is their top of the line Forcetech CE Rated armor in both the shoulders and elbows to give you ample protection from impact in the most vulnerable areas.

The flex material on the jacket is Spidi's Tenax flex material which provides great flexibility for uninhibited mobility in active riding scenarios. The jacket is not waterproof, but for an additional fee, you can purchase Spidi's H2Out liner separately, which is extremely easy to install. To keep you warm, they have included a thermal vest liner to keep the core of your body warm in cooler weather conditions. There are also mini vents located on the front of your shouders for airflow and cooling in racing conditions.

Overall, the Track Leather Jacket is a solid option for those looking for a leather motorcycle jacket and being Spidi's top end leather jacket. It should definitely be taken into consideration when looking for your new sport and track leather jacket.

With their new lineup of products for this upcoming season, Spidi is proud to introduce their Spidi Net Force H2Out Jacket. Spidi has created quality products for years and with that hard work, they have built up a solid reputation amongst motorcycle riders. For those looking for a Textile Motorcycle Jacket that will fill your sport touring needs year round, the Net Force definitely deserves a look.

First lets take a look at the Spidi Net Force H2Out Jacket Review:

As I mentioned before, the Net Force is claimed to be an all-season jacket with its Dinatech Schoeller mesh panels and removable standalone H2Out liner and thermal liner to keep you dry and warm. The key fact about the Dinatech mesh is that it is better built than your standard mesh with a much higher higher abrasion resistance. Note that the thermal liner has dual sided aluminum lining, a rare feature among thermal liners, which will prevent heat from escaping the jacket giving you that extra heat and comfort you'll need during the colder seasons. This aluminum is the same technology that we first saw in shock blankets and is now permeating some of the motorcycle gear industry.

Trying to further differentiate themselves from the competition, Spidi has actually designed their H2Out liner in a way where it is nearly impossible to rip apart the thermal liner making it very durable and reliable for the length of its existence. The rest of the garment is primarily composed of Spidi's Tenax and Tenax flex material. The primary armor used in the jacket is Spidi's Forcetech armor which they use in all of their higher end products. In addition to shoulder and elbow armor, this jacket is also prepared for a CE level one or two back protector from Spidi and their Warrior chest protector. The sizing on this jacket, like all of Spidi's textile gear, is a Euro cut meaning that you should buy it in a size larger than your American textile jacket size.

We are very happy to be spreading the word about these excellent ADV and dual sport tires and extremely pleased to have them as part of our lineup. We've recently begun to receive inventory of the Heidenau K76 Front Tire and rear tire so we had our first in-person look at them and an opportunity to a brief video overview of them. Once we've logged a thousand miles or so on these tires, we'll have the opportunity to provide a detailed breakdown and opinion of their performance.

Heidenau has been manufacturing tires in Germany since 1946 and have earned their reputation thanks to extensive trials, testing, and developing what they refer to as a "super-compound" of rubber. Prior to the wall coming down in 1990, the high quality rubbers were only going to West Germany. Heidenau, based in East Germany, was receiving a much poorer quality of rubber. As a result, they had to develop a technique of mixing different rubbers to the consistency that they desired. When the wall eventually came down, they were able to access better rubber and apply this technique to produce excellent motorcycle tires.

Heidenau K60 Scout Rear Tire

The Heidenau K76 Rear Tire and front tire will provide excellent longevity and grip for the ADV/dualsport rider. The tread pattern provides tremendous on-road grip for wet weather and cornering, but the deep grooves are wide enough to handle fire roads with gravel or hard packed dirt. Designed for a 90/10 dirt to road application, the K76 tires are ideal for the GS, V-Strom or KTM rider who spends the majority of time on the road. For the rider who hits the loose off-road dirt more often, the Heidenau K60 Scout Tire is a great option.

Spidi has been a well known brand amongst the moto community for the past several years and it's no surprise with their high quality and stylish products. If you are looking for a Textile Motorcycle Jacket, the Voyager 2 and the Voyager H2 are excellent options.

As you would guess, with its textile composition, the Voyager 2 is a three-season cold weather jacket meant to keep you comfortably warm during the harshest of weather. The main warmth component in the jacket is the 250 gram removable thermal liner making it the warmest textile jacket in the Spidi lineup. The H2Out waterproof breathable liner is built into the outer liner that way no matter how moist it is outside, you'll stay comfortably dry.

Spidi uses their proprietary Tenax shell which has high abrasion resistance and is very durable. There are Tenax Flex panels in high mobility areas for ease of motion. Protection wise, Spidi has equipped the Voyager 2 with Forcetech armor, its best armor used in the top-end jackets in their lineup. Just like most of Spidi's jackets, the Voyager 2 has a Euro-cut fit to it meaning you'll have to purchase it in a size larger than your American jacket size. The jacket does also come with removable groin straps to prevent it from falling off in the event of a crash.

The Venture H2Out runs a size small with it's Euro-cut fit, so it's strongly recommended you buy it in a size larger than your usual American size. The Venture is a four-season jacket, so whether you need something to keep you comfortably warm in the winter, or perforated during the summer, this jacket provides it all. The outer shell is comprised of Tenax textile which is Spidi's proprietary high denier outer shell as well as Tenax Flex used in areas which require flexibility. There are vents located on the shoulders, arms, and back to help you breathe during the warmer weather.

The key that makes this jacket usable for all four seasons is the fact that it comes with 2 liners: a removable stand alone H2Out waterproof breathable liner and a 200 gram insulated thermal liner. This jacket like most of Spidi's high end jackets does come with Spidi Forcetech CE Rated armor in the shoulders and elbows, and you can upgrade to the Warrior Chest and CE rated Warrior Back Protector for added safety. Additionally, Spidi has included groin straps in the Venture H2Out to prevent the jacket from being jarred out of place in the unfortunate event of a crash.

Overall, the Spidi Venture H2Out is a great option for those riders looking for a year round jacket with all its functionalities and extensive features.

Spidi has a solid rep amongst riders everywhere with their quality products and great branding, and this jacket is one more epic addition to their already stacked lineup.

The outer construction of the jacket is primarily textile with punched mesh panels to get that combination of a nice light weight and airflow in and out of the jacket. At the same time though, to prevent you from getting too cold, it comes with a windproof liner to counteract the winds you encounter when riding. The liner is also water-resistant.

A cool feature about this jacket is that there are reflective panels above the chest that shine when hit by light. The main armor used here is Spidi's own CE Rated Forcetech armor, which is commonly used amongst their higher end jackets. If Spidi had a competition for their most popular race glove, the Spidi Carbo-3 Race Gloves would come out as champs. Spidi is a well known brand amongst the moto community and have a solid rep of making quality products which look well and protect even better. This rep should be further reinforced by their Carbo-3s.

First lets check out the Spidi Carbo-3 Race Glove Review:

The main composition of this glove is kobe cowhide leather which is amongst highest class of protective leathers available for a moto glove. The fit is European, so we recommend you buy the gloves one size larger than your American size. The seams are virtually unnoticeable on the inside as it is very comfortable and smooth from the get go. Laterally, there is temperfoam to protect the outside of your hands and ulna. There is also a temperfoam panel with some elastication located beneath the carbon fiber knuckle for additional protection and flexiblity. Spidi has included foam around and behind the carbon fiber knuckle, which is already very protective and light as it is, for extra shock absorption and heat resistance.

Additionally, there are carbon sliders and temperfoam panels located on the fingers and elasticated stretch panels on the middle and pointer fingers with extra layers of leather on each finger for further protection. There is a nice large piece of clarino located on the outside part of your hand for the protection needed in case of a low side crash since that is the first part of your hand that will come into contact with the ground. On the inside of the palm, there are rubberized grip panels located on the areas of your hand that hold the handlebars to give you solid grip. The heel has an additional shock absorbing layer above the protective clarino layer as well as a slider on the side of your hand.

For the protection you recieve from Spidi with these gloves, along with their killer looks, it's no surprise they are amongst Spidi's finest and a fine choice indeed.

As we are in the beginning phases of this winter season, it is time to take a look at winter glove options. Spidi has been a well known manufacturer of moto gear for quite some time now, and their coldest weather winter glove will not disappoint with its extensive protective elements for the sport and long-distance touring rider.

The NK3 is a textile and leather glove with a built in H2Out liner designed to keep water out and allow your hand to breathe at the same time, essentially Spidi's version of Gore-Tex. There is a comfortable fleece lining on the inside as well as 150 grams of Primaloft, a type of premium insulation primarily used in high end products to keep you warm. This glove is a long distance touring glove, so whether you are commuting to work or going on a multi-week ride, these gloves will keep you warm throughout your journey. The NK3 does have a euro fit to it, so it is recommended you buy them in a size larger than your American glove size.

The textile is mainly DuPont Cordura which is extremely abrasion resistant and provides excellent durability. The full gauntlet feature enables you to keep your entire hand warm without having any areas bare. The leather is primarily cowhide leather used in most premium gloves to beef up the glove and provide ample protection. The knuckle protector is comprised of Spidi Powertec, which is polyurethane with a foam panel behind it to maximize shock absorption. There are elasticated panels located on the fingers and behind the knuckle for additional flexibility. Minus the pointer finger which is composed of a double layer of leather, the fingers have cordura wrapping for durability and solid protection. There is also clarino reinforcement located on the palm and areas of your hand which hold the handlebars for additional grip and durability. The heel of the palm has an extra leather layer stitched with kevlar for further protection as well as a lateral layer protecting from a low side impact scenario.

There is no surprise that this is Spidi's top end winter touring glove, as it loaded with features and beefed up to keep you warm and well protected.

The fitting is American so it is very generous and can accommodate most any woman's shape and contours. The interior panels of the lower part of the arms are stretch panels designed provide a solid degree of flexibility and allow some air to flow into the jacket. There are elasticated stretch panels located on the back of the arms and between the arms and shoulder blades for additional flexibility. To flow air in and out, there are vented mesh panels strategically located around the jacket for maximum ventilation. There is also CE rated armor located underneath the TPU panels in the shoulders and elbows for extra protection.

All in all, this jacket with all the features it possesses, is a top notch product for the price and should not disappoint the Icon fan base.

Since the release a few months back, the jacket and the pants have been widely successful with riders in our community based on the feedback we've seen thus far.

First let's check out the Icon Brawnson Jacket Review:

This jacket is primarily a fall/spring jacket, but will also give you great coverage and venting during the summer. The Brawnson Jacket is wind resistant and water resistant, but not waterproof. The cut is rather generous with its American fitting which is a huge plus so you can buy it in your normal size. There is a durable textile outer shell along with shoulder vents on the jacket as well as exhaust venting on the back. The armor on the jacket is CE Rated and located on the shoulders and elbows as well as a dual density foam pad on the back for protection. In addition, there is an insulated vest liner inside the jacket to help you get through the cooler weather. Icon is providing a lot of bang for the buck with this jacket and it's sure to continue to be popular with sport riders.

Now let's check out the Icon Brawnson Textile Overpants Review:

Just like the jacket, the Brawnson Overpants have a generous cut to them and run a bit on the larger size so if buying them in your normal jeans size, it is recommended you use a belt. The CE Rated knee armor, which Icon calls Field Armor, is adjustable which is a big positive about these pants. These pants are very beefy and provide great protection and are water resistant, but are not waterproof. With a 900D exterior shell construction, the Brawnsons provide excellent resistance to abrasion. All in all, the Brawnson Overpants provide excellent bang for the buck and pair up perfectly with the Brawnson jacket.

The Icon Brawnson Jacket and Overpants are both rock solid products, as we would expect from Icon, and should not disappoint.

As mentioned in the title, the Jet Roads do come with a Gore-Tex waterproof breathable liner which is guaranteed to keep your hands dry while riding by wicking away moisture and letting your hand breathe so that it doesn't get all clammy inside the glove. As with most European products, it is recommended to buy a size larger than your American size because of the standard tight fitting of the glove. The knuckle is made of carbon fiber which is both lightweight and durable to provide solid protection. The outer of the glove is primarily composed of leather and tough stretch textile mainly to beef it up but keep it comfortable at the same time. There is also clarino reinforcement on the glove to provide additional reinforcement for those more vulnerable and active parts of your hands such as the palm and your hand's outer side.

For flexibility, Alpinestars has included a stretch panel beneath the thumbs to give you that extra motion needed for your thumb. The palm is constructed primarily of leather and the aforementioned clarino reinforcement to give you that ample needed protection. There is silicone on the parts of your hand that hold the handlebars to provide extra grip and avoid your hands from slipping and sliding off the bars, especially in the wet weather. Additionally there is an added light micro fleece liner from your wrist on up to provide extra warmth when riding in colder weather.

All in all, these gloves are a top of the line product for cold weather riding and being engineered by Alpinestars, should instantly become a favorite amongst cold weather riders.

Now it's time to get into the nitty gritty of the Stingray suit. The exterior of the suit uses premium grade A performance cowhide for superior abrasion resistance, combining with 500D PWRKevlar stretch material for unparalleled mobility and flex. REV'IT moved all seams away from impact areas which increases their strength, decreasing the likelihood that they'll tear. Each and every seam in this suit is also safety stitched for an added decrease in tearing probability. Top-end CE rated ProLife armor can be found at the shoulders and elbows with fully adjustable CE Prolife armor in the knees. The adjustability is a huge upgrade as it allows you to ensure that the armor will always be in the proper position.

Another excellent feature is the dual comp honeycomb sliders at the shoulders, elbows and knees. These protectors absorb and crush in an impact scenario, adding to the ProLife armor for excellent safety in a crash. There is also double leather at the seat for abrasion resistance, and Temperfoam padding at the hips and back. The back pad can be upgraded to a Knox Advance X CE back protector (something RevZilla recommends) for added protection. The aerodynamic VCS speed hump is perforated for airflow and is prepared for a hydration system if you choose to add one. The perforation pattern on this suit is huge both on the front and back, and airflow should prove to be one of its standout features.

At the wrist and ankle cuffs and the collar are comfort panels that allow for a soft feel against the skin. Stretch paneling at the shoulders, back, elbows and knees allow for uninhibited movement and the large calf zip allows for easy in and out. Another new feature are the specially-designed grip parts at the inner knees. These are small panels that are fully replaceable and allow you to have better grip on the bike. Instead, the comfort interior is anti-static, removable, washable and offers premium moisture-management properties. As with all REV'IT! products, premium YKK zippers and spring-loaded snaps are used throughout this suit.

In the dead of winter, this may not be the ideal option as the thermal is not full-sleeved, but be certain that you will get a good chunk of the year out of this sport jacket, rain or shine. The Ignition 2 is constructed of premium cowhide leather, with extremely abrasion resistant Dynax mesh paneling throughout. PWRShell 500D stretch fabric is found at the backs of the shoulder blades for flexibility when getting into an aggressive riding position. The Hydratex waterproof breathable will keep all precipitation out but allow perspiration to escape, and can be removed when the mercury rises. The thermal bodywarmer can also be removed so the air can flow when the asphalt starts to bake. The REVIT! Ignition 2 Jacket uses ProLife CE rated armor in the shoulders and elbows. This is the same top-end armor that is used in REV'IT's race suits. The EVA foam back pad is upgradeable to a Knox Advance X CE protector, the entire jacket is safety stitched and there are foam inserts on the shoulder blades for style and protection.

A big upgrade for 2012 is the ventilation on the jacket. No, that's not a joke. REVIT has decided to add zip-open intake vents on each of the forearms, similar to those first seen on the Sand Jacket. These allow air to flow up the arm and cool you down in areas where the leather might otherwise keep you a bit warm. The Ignition 2 also features stretch paneling at the elbows, a short and long connection zipper, adjustability at the wrists and waist, slit pockets, a document pocket and inner pockets. REV'IT! has dialed back some of the reckless reflective paneling, toning down the branding as well and using logos backed by reflective and more subtle piping. This jacket is also available as the REVIT Women's Ignition 2 Leather Jacket, seen at the right.

Replacing the SLR Gloves in the lineup, the brand new REVIT RSR Gloves offer a great deal of features, functionality and bang for the buck for the aggressive sport rider and occasional track day rider. To keep the price at an extremely reasonable level, REVIT has chosen to leave out some of the crazy space age features that you'd find in a pro-level glove. What you have is a comfortable and protective glove that will perform in a variety of sport scenarios at a high level.

The shell of the REVIT! RSR Gloves is a mix of premium cowhide and goatskin, which offers maximum abrasion resistance yet is simultaneously supple and tactile. Stretch panels can be found at the backhand and mid-digitally at the fingers for uninhibited mobility. For protection, there is a dual-comp honeycomb slider at the heel of the hand, a carbon fiber hard-shell main knuckle protector, TPU hard-shell pinky protector, and EVA foam padding at the fingers and thumb. There is also PWR Aramid at the palm which adds another level of strength and abrasion resistance. Ventilation is solid on the glove as well, and the velcro gauntlet closure is complemented by a velcro wrist micro adjuster. This glove is some serious competition for anything in its price range.

The long-awaited replacement for the insanely popular Dragon has arrived in the form of the REVIT Spectrum Jacket. Brand new for spring 2012, the Spectrum provides a ton of flexibility and will perform in essentially any weather condition or season. The REVIT! Spectrum features a multi-stage liner system allowing it to be configured in different ways to meet the demands of any riding situation. Boasting upgrades and a slick style redesign, the Spectrum is also available in a hi-viz version for all the commuters and touring riders looking for an extra safety precaution. There is also a women's-specific version, the REVIT Indigo Ladies Jacket, that replaces the Siren.

REVIT Spectrum HV Jacket

Built on an abrasion-resistant 600D polyester chassis, the Spectrum features new Knox Flexiform CE rated armor in the shoulders and elbows. The foam backpad is upgrade-ready for the Knox Advance X CE back protector. Inside, there is a removable standalone waterproof breathable Hydratex G-liner and a full-sleeved removable thermal liner. Each of these can be used solo within the jacket or they can be used in conjunction. The Hydratex liner is actually styled so that it can be worn by itself when you're off the bike. Zip in the thermal and you've got a solid waterproof cooler weather casual jacket. When it's warm out, remove both liners and open up the intake vents at the chest and arms and you'll feed airflow to the large rear exhaust vent.

There are adjustment possibilities at the waist, upper arms, under arms, hips and cuffs with stretch panels above the elbows. There are two large front cargo pockets, inner pockets and a rabbit pouch at the back for easy liner storage. There is strategic reflective paneling at the upper arms and the back and the collar uses REV'IT's multi-position adjuster to allow you to set it and forget it. There is also a lockdown collar hook allowing you to prevent your collar from flapping if you want to ride with it open. REVIT listened to the community and made some notable upgrades to what was already a stand out piece in the lineup.

The REV'IT! Indigo Jacket features everything that the Spectrum touts, but is designed by female touring riders for female touring riders. The lines of the jacket are cut and contoured for a woman's shape and the chest ventilation is moved to the side to allow better airflow for a woman. Also, the shoulder and elbow armor is Knox Lite ladies CE rated protection, which is more comfortable and ergonomic for a woman's shape. In addition, the thermal liner is softer, warmer and more cushiony than the Spectrum's, given the fact that women tend to get a bit colder. Overall, this jacket takes huge strides beyond what the siren was, and is also available as the REVIT Indigo HV Jacket.

Ladies

One major upgrade over the Union is the armor used in both the Rebel and Rebel Ladies jackets. Knox Flexiform is the newest iteration of CE armor for men from Knox, as it is lighter and more comfortable than previous versions. For women, the armor is Knox Lite which is ladies-specific, allowing it to be more ergonomic and comfortable on a woman's body. The jacket features a removable full-sleeved quilted thermal liner which will keep you comfortable in cooler conditions but can be removed when the weather heats up. There is, however, no true intake or exhaust vents in this jacket, so in the hotter conditions, you will probably start to get hot. Consider this more a fall, winter and spring option.

Other features found on both mens' and womens' versions of this jacket are the inner pockets, the external slit and document pockets, adjustability at the waist, collar and cuffs, and a short connection zipper to connect to a pair of leather pants.

Both the Horizon jacket and pants have the waterproof breathable membrane built into the shell so you're covered in all weather conditions. With the removable thermal liners, you're also covered deep into the temperature range. There is also the brand new Aquadefense system from REV'IT!, which I will get to after the video, that allows a ton of airflow to enter this jacket in hot weather conditions, but completely seals out water when it is raining out. Truly revolutionary technology.

REVIT Horizon HV Jacket

The shell of the Horizon jacket is composed of 750D and 500D PWRShell and PWRShell stretch fabrics, providing a high degree of abrasion resistance, but also allowing for movement and flexibility in active riding scenarios. Upgraded Knox CE Rated Flexiform armor can be found in the shoulders and elbows, while the foam backpad is upgradeable to a Knox Advance X CE back protector. What really makes this jacket special though, is the extensive ventilation system which borrows heavily from the Sand but also incorporates the aforementioned Aquadefense system. Essentially, these airvent panels are sealed with an external gasket when closed, but when open, they flow air to a 3D mesh panel that backs them. Innovative and effective, REV'IT again raises the bar with this technology. These intakes feed a rear exhaust panel for exceptional hot weather ventilation.

Beyond this, as with most REVIT! gear, adjustment possibilities are extensive. There are straps at the waist and upper arms with snap adjusters at the forearms and velcro at the wrist. The multi-position neck closure system allows you to set and forget, while the collar loop on the opposite side allows you to hook it down and prevent flapping if you want to ride with the collar open. Reflective paneling is strategically added throughout, and the jacket features inner pockets, handwarmer pockets, stash pockets and a rabbit pouch. Pair this jacket up with the REVIT! Horizon Pants, and you can seriously get through the harshest of both hot and cold weather conditions.

The REVIT Horizon pants are the obviously ideal pairing for the Horizon jacket. They are constructed from a mix of materials; PWRShell 750D and 500D and PWRWax 500D with the Hydratex waterproof breathable membrane built into the shell. There is a fully removable thermal liner for the colder times of the year, CE rated knox flexiform armor in the knees, and perforated foam protectors at the hips. As with all REV'IT! products, adjustment possibilities run rampant with the knee armor being fully adjustable, adjusters at the waist and ankles. There are short and long connection zippers to pair this with your favorite REV'IT! jacket and the pass-through pockets also act as vents in the warm weather. Strategic reflective paneling and stretch zones round out the features on the Horizon pants.

For the serious touring enthusiast and the commuter, this combo will get you through all seasons and weather conditions. REV'IT Horizon HV Jacket

REVIT Horizon Jacket - The REVIT Horizon looks to be a much awaited all season touring option with the Hydratex waterproof breathable liner sandwiched into the outer shell in a non-removable manner. While we have seen this before from other brands, the nice part, on top of the fact that the High-Viz option is beautiful, is that the chest venting vents directly to the body through the newly engineered rubberized vent functionality. Also without using GORE-TEX the cost of the REVIT Horizon should be more reasonable than some of its GTX brethren. To us this represents another great addition to the line which already has multiple attacks for all season riding.

REV'IT Spectrum Jacket

REVIT Spectrum Jacket - The much awaited replacement for the Dragon, the REVIT Spectrum will have a 4-season touring approach with a progressive and updated Hi-Viz option. The key takeaway for the Spectrum is that the pricing will be in the same more reasonable ball park that its predecessor occupied, compared to some of the more technical jackets. The Spectrum will offer a HV option, a dual removable liner system and the newly upgraded Knox armor in both elbow and shoulders from what we see at this juncture..

REV'IT Indigo

REVIT Indigo Jacket - Much like the Spectrum for the men, the REVIT Indigo is the well-rounded and universal textile all-season option for the ladies - at a reasonable price. Also the Hi-Viz or HV option is a nice step forward in style and protection. The REVIT Indigo has taken its cue from the ever popular Siren jacket and improved upon it in both style and function through a new design and by using the new Knox armor in shoulder and elbows. We expect the Indigo to be a standout and appeal to a wider range of women riders.

REV'IT Airwave

REVIT Airwave Jacket - It was nice to see REV'IT! redesign a classic for 2012. An updated and restyled replacement for the REVIT Air Jacket in both a men's and women's version. Mesh and textile with a sport / sport touring approach to warm and hot weather riding. The REVIT Airwave certainly has large shoes to fill and from what we see it is off to a good start using the newer more accommodating fit pattern (especially in the arms) as well as a utilization of the new Knox armor which has an improved comfort level for both sexes.

REVIT Ignition 2 Ladies

The REVIT Ignition 2 Jacket is a welcomed addition to the Spring 2012 lineup. Look for the newly restyled REVIT Ignition 2 in sizes up to 60 and with an updated style and fit (especially in the sleeves). A Hydratex waterproof liner and and thermal vest round out the new design for both men and women which continues to make the Ignition 2 a crossover hit. The new Silver / Anthracite option is a breath of fresh air compared to the original Ignition which has been a staple for so long.

Tornado HV Jacket

REVIT Tornado HV Jacket - All the REVIT Tornado 3-season touring jacket that you have come to know and love - now in a High-Viz flavor. The HV or Hi-Viz color will only be available for the men as far as we know, but look for it to make a big splash in the already safety-conscious adventure and long distance touring market.

Stingray Race Suit

REVIT Stingray Race Suit - inner knee grips, new top end race suit in a multitude of colors. Look for the REVIT Stingray to take its place at the top of the heap and on Randy, Alvaro and PJ on the grid.

Michelin Commander 2 Tires

Brand new for January 2012, the Michelin Commander 2 Tire seems to be the end-all be-all for cruiser tires. Studies conducted in the production phase of these tires using a Harley Electra Glide showed that the rear tire will last nearly twice as long as the Commander II's main competition from Metzeler and Dunlop. The brand new Michelin Commander 2 Rear Tires can cover up to 40,000km (nearly 25,000mi). Utilizing a more rigid tire casing than what is generally seen on comparable tires. This higher-density casing offers better handling and tremendous feedback with the road. At the back tire, aramid tread plies are used which resist centrifugal growth, provide extra stability and reduce the overall weight of the tire. In addition, the Commander II tires are using square bead wires which improve casing rigidity, overall handling and make them a cinch to install. The Michelin Commander 2 Front Tires and rear tires will also perform excellently in the rain, as their new rubber compounds provide unparalleled grip in the wet without sacrificing longevity. There are numerous longitudinal grooves in these tires that force water out. In addition, using Silica Rain Technology, Michelin has integrated silica into the compound of the tire to prevent uneven wear.

Held Gloves 2012 Overview

Held is releasing four brand new gloves for early 2012 which continues Held's long tradition of creating highly technical, protective and high-performance motorcycle gloves. For this new round of gloves, Held is dropping two sport-focused men's gloves, a ladies-specific sport glove and a dualsport/ADV glove that will go head to head in protection and comfort with the top offerings in this realm from other leading manufacturers. While we haven't shot our video reviews yet, what we can currently offer is a quick explanation and feature breakdown for what each of these gloves offers.

Our favorite gloves in this release are the Held Agadir Gloves, which appear to be the replacement for the extraordinarily popular Air Stream from Held. The Agadir gloves are designed for warm to hot weather sport riding, with airflow and protection being their primary focus. A full kangaroo leather construction, the Held Agadirs feature a ton of perforation along the backhand and fingers. The hard part knuckle protector also features vents to bring more air into the glove. Superfabric panels protect the two outer fingers and there is a large palm panel that wraps around for excellent abrasion resistance. More to come on the Held Agadir Gloves, but I would wager these will be hugely popular.

The Held Evo Thrux Gloves are an aggressive sport glove that can cross over to occasional track day riding. The backhand is premium cowhide while the palm uses Held's signature abrasion-resistant yet tactile kangaroo leather. These leathers are colorfast and sweat resistant and offer excellent protection and comfort. For protection, there is a ventilated hard part main knuckle protector with hard outer pinky protection, superfabric paneling at the fingers and palm, and double-layered leather in strategic areas. There are also Kevlar panels for added abrasion resistance. Leather stretch paneling allows for flew and mobility, there is a velcro microadjuster in addition to the main cuff closure and a visor wiper in the event that you need to clean off your shield. Our first impression is that these gloves are a great bang for the buck sport glove.

The Held Sambia Gloves have a straightforward mission: offer a high degree of protection and comfort for the aggressive ADV and dualsport rider. This is accomplished using a mix of construction materials and technologies. The backhand is a mix of lightweight nylon for breathability with leather inserts around the vented hard part knuckle armor and at the outer pinky. There is a stretch panel directly behind the knuckle armor for mobility and comfort. They tend to have a rather tight European fit to them so ordering these in a size larger than your American glove size is definitely recommended. One thing that automatically sticks out after putting on the Race-Vents is how comfortable they are. The stitching is done in a way that it is almost impossible to feel the seams making it more smooth for your fingers to operate after putting them on. There is also a vent located on the back of the hand right below the knuckle protector to keep your hands cool and dry when riding. There is a full cowhide exterior to give the gloves great durability and abrasion resistant properties. It is a full gauntlet glove as race gloves usually are providing protection for your ulna with soft inserts located on the top of the gauntlet for that extra needed protection.

There is also a rubberized TPR Spidi logo located right beneath the soft inserts for both style and further protection. There are thermoformed titanium fiber and TPU protectors located at the main knuckle, outer hand and ulna. There are also PU protectors located on the fingers and the vent located on the back of the hand behind the knuckle protector. The fingers include a double layer of leather on the fingers between the index and pinky. There is a keramide, a kevlar derivative, reinforced palm for further added stability. This glove provides plenty of lateral side hand protection with soft inserts on the pinky and an extra seamless layer of leather that goes up the lateral side.

Overall for being a relatively fair priced racing glove, this glove is truly a bang for the buck product with all the comfort and protective features it touts.

These pants are 3-season cold weather pants so you will be able to wear them in the most brutal conditions and still be able to stay warm and dry. The Gore-Tex liner is built into the outer shell while the thermal liner is removable. The hidden feature on these pants is the amount of venting you are getting to further increase the evaporation factor and provide some direct ventilation in warmer weather conditions. There is an abrasion-resistant textile outer shell and CE rated knee armor which extends all the way down to the shins that will protect from impact in the event of a get-off.

The hips have upgraded CE rated proshape armor which was previously used only in the Avro suit, but is now making its way into other high-end Dainese gear. The pants are well lit with reflective panels located in various strategic areas up and down the pants. The sizing on the Street Tracker is like most European pants, you'd have to go up 14-18 sizes from your typical jeans size to get an appropriate estimate of your Street Tracker Pants size.

All in all, these pants are a bit pricey, but being Dainese's best textile pants and getting all the upgraded features you get with these, they are still a bang for the buck product and should be highly considered for those looking for cold weather motorcycle pants.

First lets take a look at the Dainese Gator Gore-Tex Pants Review:

Built for cool weather, these pants will keep you dry and comfortable during the fall, spring, and summer. They also include a removable thermal liner to keep you warm when temperatures dip. The pants are primarily composed of Comfort Cordura which is highly abrasion resistant but also has a nice degree of stretch to it for flexibility and comfort. The knees are primarily made up of Texas fabric which offers extra abrasion resistance to protect the more vulnerable areas.

The base construction of the Held Calibur Gloves is derived from pittards leather which is thinner than the average leather, but receives a special tanning process for excellent durability and protection. There is also superfabric to protect the more vulnerable parts of your hands such as your knuckles, outside of the last 2 fingers, and down the ulna, the outer area of your hand. Held has smartly located a dual visor wiper on your left index finger to wipe away any moisture that builds on the outside of your face shield. The fingers that the superfabric does not cover have extra padding inserted for additional protection in case of a crash.

The thumbs are protected by suprotect material which is a type of memory foam that stiffens with impact to minimize the damage on your thumb if you crash. The palm is mainly constructed from kangaroo leather, which is one of the more durable and thinner leathers available. The heel of the hand being one of the more vulnerable areas of your hand, is also protected by superfabric. There is double reinforcement up the base curve of the thumb for durability. The gloves have a more generous american cut to them, therefore you can buy them in your typical handsize, instead of having to upgrade a size like you typically have to do with european gloves.

Alpinestars has come out with their new Alpinestars Long Range 2 Drystar Jacket and Alpinestars Long Range 2 Drystar Pants, both meant for long distance ADV touring. As you would expect from Alpinestars, both products have an array of features which separate them from the rest of the pack in terms of quality and style.

First up we'll take a look at the Alpinestars Long Range 2 Drystar Jacket Review:

From a protection standpoint, you have CE rated bio armor to protect the elbows, forearms, and shoulders as well as abrasion resistant silver patches found in more vulnerable areas to provide coverage. The sizing on the jacket tends to have an european cut, making it a half size smaller than what we see from the usual tech touring jackets. As you would expect from a long distance touring jacket, the Drystar Jacket is loaded with vents and pockets strategically located throughout the jacket and a rabbit pouch located on the lower back side of the jacket to fit extra items. The jacket consists of both a removable internal thermal liner and a removable drystar waterproof liner to keep you both warm and dry while you cruise. The outer shell can be used standalone with its ventilation during the warmer seasons of the year. Additionally for your comfort, the jacket includes stretch panels on the collar, elbows, and sides to give you that flexibility to move around while riding.

Next up: the Alpinestars Long Range 2 Drystar Pants Review:

The outer composure of the pants consists of a mixture of polyamide fabric and a higher-denier and stronger fabric in the knees, shins, and impact areas below the waist. Additionally there is CE Rated armor located on the knees that go down all the way to the shin as well as temperfoam in both hips. The lower inner sides of the pants have abrasion resistant inserts and there is a double reinforced seat. Just like the Long Range 2 Jacket, the pants have vents in key area to keep you cool in warmer conditions along with removable thermal and drystar liners to keep you warm and dry in more harsh conditions. There is an accordion stretch panel located on the upper backside of the pants to give you that flexibility to be mobile on the bike.

The Alpinestars Long Range 2 Drystar Jacket and Pants are some of the more technical gear Alpinestars came out with in the last year and should be a home run amongst long distance ADV riders.

Dainese is known for going above and beyond making products that are of the highest quality and also fashionable, and they have succeeded yet again with the Dainese Supermoto Leather Jacket. Dainese's main goal with this jacket was to make it simple and slick with a city vibe, sacrificing nothing in performance or protection. As you can tell from its sleek ergonomic design, this jacket is meant for both city and casual riding.

The Supermoto is composed of premium Italian cowhide leather which is extremely abrasion resistant yet also has a supple feel. At the shoulders and elbows, there are removable CE rated protectors while there are pockets for a G1 or G2 back protector and the Dainese thorax chest protector.

The selling point of the Supermoto truly lies in all the comfort features it possesses. The ergonomics on this jacket are designed specifically so that you can ride in an upright to 3/4 sport position. The jacket will move flawlessly with your body in either of these riding positions. Rounding out the feature set are two outer pockets, an internal pocket, and a pocket on the removable thermal liner. There are also reflective inserts located throughout the jacket.

All in all, the Dainese Supermoto Leather Jacket is a new upper echelon casual and city riding leather, continuing a long tradition of such gear from Dainese.
