RevZilla to Wasilla! Supporting Jack's Adventure Ride to Alaska for the Austin Hatcher Foundation

This is Jack Broomall.

Jack is almost 60 years old, retired, a motorcycle land speed record holder and he thinks bears are fictional creatures. Jack is also about to leave for two months on a solo 10,000+ mile motorcycle ride from Philly to Alaska to raise money and awareness for pediatric Cancer Research and the Austin Hatcher Foundation (hatcherfoundation.org). Why? Because he's paying it forward.

We think Jack rocks.

We met Jack a few weeks ago at RevZilla HQ during our ADV open house while famed adventure rider, Lois Pryce, was giving an inspirational talk on her travels. Jack briefly told us about his upcoming plans and we emphatically leapt at the chance to get involved.

Jack will be logging the miles on his BMW F650GS from Philadelphia to Alaska and back again covering a good chunk of the states and Canada. The trip has been unofficially been dubbed RevZilla to Wasilla ... We heard you can see Russia from your house up there ;-) He will be chronicling the entire adventure and feeding his exploits to the web on a semi-real time basis.

We have adopted Jack's cause. By supporting him any way we can, our hope is to use our internet reach to help promote the trip and its very worthy cause as well as ultimately impact folks in need. Among the standard blog posts, emails, tweets, pics and forum threads collectively from us and Jack, we will also be offering every single RevZilla customers further ways to contribute. The ability to automatically donate to the foundation while placing an order online will be implemented to coincide with the beginning of Jack's journey.

Jack's trip begins this Wednesday 5/20 from RevZilla HQ around 1:30pm. Anyone wishing to come out to see him off is welcome to join the festivities.

Also, much to our delight, Jack is as tech savvy as they come so it will be easy for everyone to follow his expedition through the following channels over the next 8 or so odd weeks:

Blog / Twitter:
Jack's Blog for the Trip: 2Wheels2Alaska.com

RevZilla will also be retweeting Jack News on our Twitter @RevZilla

When Leather Meets Mesh: The REV'IT! Phoenix Jacket and Gear Pants

Full REVIT Phoenix & Gear Picture Gallery

Based on the historical success of the leather and mesh composite, REV'IT! Ignition Jacket, 2009 has seen the unveiling of the REVIT Phoenix Jacket as well as the matching REVIT Gear Pants. This fills one of the few gaps in REV'IT!'s lineup as the Phoenix is a punctuated leather and mesh composite with a sportbike style. Its meant to be a hot weather jacket although a thin thermal base layer could push the effective temperature range lower.

The 2009 Gear pants are also a great option to be paired with the Phoenix or Ignition Jacket and offer the Hydratex liner to extend the use from one to two seasons with protection from wind and rain as well. Dynax, an upgraded more protective mesh, is also used on the items to maximize the protective qualities.

Both men and women's versions are also available as well as some other color options. We have obviously been impressed with what we have seen so far and based on the response we have gotten, so has the riding community. You can find more detail here:

I know we seem to be REV'IT! whores lately, especially on this blog, but out of the hundreds of brands we carry, its tough to wow us with anything short of a stellar new product. As of late its been a lot of REV'IT! and Dainese at the top of the heap.

REV'IT! Air Jacket and Rotor Pants Mesh Combo Photo Gallery

..Have Camera, Will Shoot. I've gone motorcycle gear paparazzi this week... this time is was the REV'IT! Air Jacket and Rotor Mesh Pants Combination

See the Full Flickr Gallery

REV'IT! listened to is customers over the last two seasons and for Spring 2009 released the ROTOR pant which is meant to be the match for the Air Jacket. This combo is meant to be for summer riding but comes in at a significantly lower price ($355 total) than the REV'IT! Turbine Jacket and REV'IT! Turbine Pant combo. The new ADV Styled REVIT Giri Glove and REVIT Air Blend Boots are featured as well.

I have had a black Air jacket in my closet for a few years and absolutely love it. Ton of bang for the buck for lightweight durable mesh protection when I am ripping around town or twisties on my Ducati. You can stretch the temp range lower by throwing a base layer under it as well. I use the REV'IT! Digital Base Layer as a windblocking base, although its not weatherproof.

REV'IT! Sirocco Mesh Jacket Pictures

We are still trigger happy here.

We had some fun yesterday shooting the REV'IT! Sirocco 4-Season Warm Weather jacket in the studio. As always no one on our staff was safe we steal models right from their desks..

See the Full REV'IT! Sirocco Jacket Picture Gallery on RevZilla's Flickr account.

This jacket has all of the detachable liner elements of the Cayenne Pro but with over 50% of the shell made of Dynax Mesh, it will vent significantly better. Think four seasons with a warmer top end than the Cayenne Pro but less cold weather performance.

You can read a full scale Sirocco review at WebBikeWorld.com. The Sirocco was named Motorcycle Jacket of the year for 2008.

Recap: Lois on the Loose Event at Revzilla Store

Last Saturday Lois Pryce came and spoke at the RevZilla store in Philadelphia. Thanks to all who were involved in making the event a success. We had a great ride in in the morning from Eurosports as well as many folks ride right to our store to talk bikes, shop and hear Lois give her account of traversing North America, South America, Europe and Africa solo on a 225cc bike!

All of the pictures from the event are now posted to our Flickr Photo Gallery. Also anyone with questions about the event can shoot us a line on our Lois on the Loose Thread on Advrider.com.

More REV'IT Cayenne Pro Jacket & Pants Pictures (Green)

We love it when people call us and say - "What do X Jacket & X Pants in Y color look like together?"

It gives us(me) a chance to play in our studio and geek out on all the new stuff we have. Take a peek at the REV'IT! Cayenne Pro Jacket & Pants Suit in green.

I shot a bunch of REVIT Cayenne Pro pics. I am way too excited about it.
