Alpinestars Brass Jacket: The Answer

There are a handful of us out there absolutely love Alpinestars gear, but don’t ride anything that would require shoulder sliders nor an aerodynamic race hump. The Brass is the answer to our pleas for a protective leather jacket built with classic Alpinestars quality, and a more casual aesthetic in mind. While they are not the first to spot all the trackers, brats, cafes and bobbers whose owners need something a bit more suitable to their style, they are definitely fashionably late to that party. As part of the Oscar by Alpinestars Collection, this jacket is part of a throwback to Alpinestars’ early days developing gear for riders in the Italian Alps as far back as the early ‘60s.

Alpinestars Brass Leather Motorcycle JacketThe namesake of the Alpinestars Brass Leather Jacket is the use of brass snaps and zippers at the connection points. This, in combination with the waxed black or brown vintage leather and a satin interior results in a classic feel to the jacket. The armor used in the jacket is the soft CE-rated armor from Alpinestars’ RideOut collection. The armor is fully removable should you want to wear the jacket out for the night, but this also means that you can add more substantial armor should you want to ride a little more aggressively. There is a pocket for a back protector as well if that suits your riding style. The jacket has a fairly tailored, snug fit, and the pre-curve to the shoulders and elbows makes it ideal for a riding positions with a slight forward lean.

Alpinestars Brass Leather Jacket Review:

It will more than likely get a bit toasty in the dead of Summer, but for more temperate weather, the Brass should keep you comfy. The perforated underarms will allow for a bit of airflow and the internal collar snap back will allow you to safely zip the jacket open at the neck. This jacket isn’t your typical Alpinestars fare, but it is definitely a welcome addition. It would go perfectly on a Ducati Scrambler, Triumph Thruxton, Moto Guzzi V7 or even a BMW R nineT. Hell, even Sportster guys need some A-stars love. While it is following in the retro footsteps of some other brands, the Brass is a much-needed entry into the Alpinestars lineup.
