Some items are not successful. Some are very successful. Some are flat out, over-the-moon blockbusters. The original Dakar fit the latter category, so in following up one of their most popular items off all-time, Olympia had high expectations to live up to with the Dakar 2.
In looking at the Olympia Dakar 2 Jacket it is easy to see the foundation upon which it was built. Rooted in a fierce desire to go anywhere that two wheels can take riders, and to to so in whatever conditions are thrown its way, the Dakar 2 is a no-joke juggernaut of the motorcycle gear world. Continuing Olympia’s two-layer ethos, and taking it a step further with an additional third layer, the Dakar 2 has an outer shell comprised of a 500D Cordura / ballistic airflow mesh panel combination that brings together high abrasion resistance with high airflow ventilation. On layer 2, the Dakar features an AquaRes laminated rain jacket that can be worn either over or under the jacket itself when bad weather hits. Finally, on the third layer, the Olympia Dakar 2 rocks a removable full-sleeve thermal layer with Thermolite insulation. Generally, Summer tends to be the land of the blockbuster. Olympia, however, has skipped the sweaty lines, pricey soft drinks, and crowded seating arrangements to launch their tentpole jacket in the Fall of 2016.
