Klim Tomahawk Parka and Storm Bib Pants Review

It's almost that time of year for extreme snow sports (and certainly already is in some parts of the country), and no one produces better snow gear on the market than Klim, who's been a leader in the industry for a long time. The Klim Tomahawk Parka and Klim Storm Bib are a shining example of high-performing extreme cold weather motorsports gear from them. Second only to the Valdez and Togwotee in the Klim food chain of snowmobile gear, this outfit will keep you warm and comfortable during active and aggressive riding conditions in the coldest of cold.

Check out our Klim Tomahawk Parka and Storm Bib Review:

Utilizing Gore-Tex, the most waterproof breathable membrane manufacturer on the market, and high-denier fabrics in the outer shell, the Tomahawk Parka is a do-it-all cold weather jacket that will keep you warm, dry and comfortable in all winter precipitation. The articulation and cut of the jacket is designed for maximum comfort in an active and aggressive snowmobile riding position. There are removable shoulder pads for slight protection and to keep the jacket in place. Enormous pit zips will flow a ton of air into the jacket and the large storm flap protected exhaust vent across the back will pull the air through and keep the circulation going. There is a elastic rubberized snow dust skirt that cinches around the waist to keep any snow from flowing up into the jacket and hand gaiters that perform the same function for the sleeves.

The Tomahawk also features two water resistant chest cargo pockets with two handwarmer pockets and two inside storage pockets. Every zipper on this garment is YKK and features glove-friendly zipper pulls. The main connection zipper of this jacket is protected by a double storm flap and a rain gutter system. The liner of the jacket is high-activity and moisture-wicking and allows your body to breathe by pulling hot perspiration away from the skin, preventing any clamminess. Adjustability at the waist, hem, wrist, and collar ensure a tailored fit for maximum performance. The collar itself is fleece-lined and features a beard flap over the zipper end to make sure no metal can pull your beard -- we all know how annoying that is. Finally, reinforced fabrics in the impact areas provide another level of protection in this jacket.

On to the Klim Storm Bib.

The perfect mate for the Tomahawk, the Klim Storm Bib Pants are part of Klim's Aggressive Series, utilizing a three-layer technology and Gore-Tex Performance Shell. The exterior is constructed of heavy duty nylon for durability and there is foam knee/shin padding for some added protection. The Gore-Tex waterproof breathable membrane ensures protection from the elements and the elastic rubberized gaiters at each ankle stop the chance of precipitation creeping up the leg. All the zippers are water-resistant YKK zips with glove-friendly pulls, and protected by zipper garages that add to the waterproofing element. The well thought-out patterning is designed for an aggressive snow sports riding position, with articulation in the waist, knees and seat.

The bib system is adjustable but non-removable and the large center zip with a double-head YKK zipper makes it extremely easy to get out of these pants. The full-length side leg zips operate as an easy on/off mechanism but they can also be opened up from the other direction for airflow. The interior is a moisture-wicking hanging liner that will allow your body to breathe and prevent clamminess by wicking perspiration away from the skin. 3M Scotchlite piping is strategically built in for night-time visibility and there are two chest pockets and two handwarmer pockets. Meant as a do-it-all bib for aggressive cold weather motorsports, the Klim Storm Bib is the ideal complement to the Klim Tomahawk Parka.
