As the weather gets cooler up here in the northern latitudes, we can always rely on Florida to keep the season going a bit longer. Maybe that’s why it such a great location for the annual American International Motorcycle Expo, and a big reason why are gear gurus look forward to this trip all year. Well, that and the fact that it is the prime launching station for the gear that is going to be at the forefront of the industry in the coming year. Case and point, the announcement of the new Sena Smart Helmet.
As you may or may not know, Sena is an industry leader in the world of bluetooth communicators, and has been for some time. They are a big deal, and they make a fantastic product. However, in the past, they have always focused on the communication unit itself which would then be attached to a separate helmet that was manufactured to another set of specifications. For 2016, that is all changing as Sena has decided to enter the helmet game outright and produce their very own Smart Helmet. While it was just announced moments ago at AIMExpo, the short version is that we are basically one step closer to our very own Tony Stark style, do all, self computing moto-masterpiece of a helmet! At the forefront of this technology is the Intelligent Noise-Control System (INC).
- INC will decrease wind noise while still keeping road noises such as sirens, RPMS, and general traffic clear
- Ambient Mode will allow for crystal clear sound of rider surroundings without removal of the helmet
- Fully integrated Bluetooth 4.1 functionality
- Full Carbon shell for extreme weight reduction
- Multi-Zone foaming and variable flow-rate ventilation
It is early, and the Sena Smart helmet is new to the game, so we look forward to seeing what other info becomes available in the near future.
Have fun out there, be safe, and as always…
Enjoy the ride,
Juice
