Klim Adventure Rally Jacket & Pants: Simply the Best

For those of you aiming to compete in the Baja 1000, Dakar Rally, or just looking to start freelancing as a explosive ordinance technician, the new Klim Adventure Rally jacket and pants was made just for you. If you are already familiar with the Klim Adventure Rally jacket and pants, then you already know that this is the closest thing to a home you are going to be calling for durations of your globe trotting moto adventure.

The previous generation of the Adventure Rally suit was already indestructible and yet Klim managed to implement great improvements into the new for 2016 version. The main difference between the previous and the new version of the suit will be, in how the garments are designed to fit. The Adventure Rally pants and the jacket were designed to be bombproof and as comfortable for a motorcycle rider that is going to be blasting hundreds of miles off road on his rally bike. With that in mind, every ounce of weight counts against you in this hellish endurance race. Klim improved the new 2016 version of the Adventure Rally suit to be more form fitting and subsequently lighter in weight by cutting away the excess textile fabric. It’s designed to work with your body and not against it, which is why Klim decided to incorporate stretch panels at the shoulders to give you a better range of motion. By cutting down on the excess bulk of the material and incorporating more form fitting materials the Adventure Rally suit will be lighter and more comfortable when you are going to be racing through the sand dunes.

The Klim Adventure Rally Jacket features the Gore-Tex 3-Layer Pro Shell Armacor construction. The impact areas also are reinforced with Superfabric. In addition, Klim has partnered with D3O to designed a new Xergo armor that will meet and exceed CE Level 2 certification. The jacket will also include a new Viper Pro CE Level 2 back protector in addition to the fully ventilated silicone Dow Corning Deflexion chest armor.To keep your organs protected and to give you more support for the lower back, the jacket also features a fully adjustable kidney belt. The jacket’s collar has been redesigned to cut down on the bulk. The new Adventure Rally jacket’s collar will still be compatible with off road neck braces as well. The jacket will also include the 3Liter Hydrapak reservoir to keep you cool and hydrated throughout the race. The internal moisture wicking mesh internal liner will help you in keep in you cool and comfortable as well.

Klim Adventure Rally Jacket Review:

The Klim Adventure Rally Pants similarity went under the knife so to speak. Motorcycle endurance races are tough as it is, which is why it’s vital for the rider to wear gear that will be a perfect blend of protection as well as comfort. The new Adventure Rally pants will have a lower rise to eliminate the baggy fit and improve the comfort of the rider. The leather panels on the legs have been enlarged as well to improve durability and protection of the rider. Similarly the pants feature the Gore-Tex 3 Layer Pro Shell Armacor construction. For extra abrasion resistance the knee areas was reinforced with Superfabric. In terms of impact protection, Klim included D3O Xergo knee and hip pads that will exceed CE Level 2 safety standard. In addition, the pants also feature Poron XRD Extreme Impact Foam for protection against fractures of the tailbone.

The Adventure Rally suit was designed for the rally, endurance motorcycle racers in mind. Only 100 of these suits were actually produced. The suit was designed for the motorcycle globetrotters that will be living on their bike for months or years during their travels. You know who you are.

Klim Adventure Rally Upgrade for 2014

Klim built their brand on tough, no-nonsense principles. Those principles trickle down into their gear. For years, the Adventure Rally system has built a reputation for being the most robust and versatile riding system on the planet. It’s designed for riders that push the limits of their motorcycles, their bodies, and their minds. It’s designed for riders that push themselves to the edges of the earth. New for 2014, Klim introduces an updated version of the Adventure Rally system.

Diving into the technical nuggets, we start with the exterior. The Adventure Rally’s exterior shell is made of Armacor. Armacor is a highly abrasion resistant textile fabric backed with a laminated Gore-Tex membrane. Armacor also has small Ripstop grids throughout, “beefing up” its integrity even further. Klim reinforces the Armacor textile in the impact areas with a new Superfabric blend. In the previous version of the Adventure Rally, Klim used Talisman in the impact areas. Talisman has great abrasion resistant properties, but was a bit too thick and heavy, which limited riders mobility. Klim has sourced a new batch of Superfabric that’s lighter, more flexible, and maintains a high levels of abrasion resistance.

The Klim Adventure Rally uses the highest level of Gore-Tex waterproofing, 3 Layer Pro Shell. The best way to understand Gore-Tex Pro Shell is to grab an Oreo cookie. The two chocolate sides of the Oreo represent textile material. The cream filling represents the raw Gore-Tex membrane. Laminate the three layers together and you get Pro Shell. Pro Shell manages internal humidity and moisture levels 20% better than other Gore-Tex applications. In addition, because Pro Shell Gore-Tex is laminated on both sides, it’s much more durable and much less bulky than a floating or removable liner. Klim continues to make comfort a priority without sacrificing technicality.

Klim updated the protection of the Adventure Rally from CE Level 1 T5 D3O armor in the elbows, shoulders, hips and knees to CE Level 2 XERGO D3O armor. The new XERGO armor passed CE level 2 testing with flying colors. It has better coverage than the T5 armor and larger holes for better moisture wicking / ventilation. The XERGO armor compliments the breathable Gore-Tex Pro Shell better. The CE level 2 T5 D3O back protector remains the same.

Klim Adventure Rally Jacket Review:

Klim improved the storage / pockets for 2014. The new Adventure Rally has 2 additional quick-access tool pockets in the jacket. Furthermore, the two external thigh pockets in the pants are repositioned for easier access while sitting on the motorcycle. The full system has a total of 13 external water-resistant pockets and 4 internal pockets to haul a full load wherever the adventure takes you. Supporting the full load is an internal support system. The internal support system includes a full harness with kidney belt.


Next up is adjustability. The new Adventure Rally’s adjustment system is a huge upgrade from the previous model. The previous Klim Adventure Rally Pants had little external adjustability which made for a bulky fit. The new Adventure Rally has external adjustments in the biceps, forearms, sleeves, waist, and hips. Having a tailored fit is crucial on long distance, demanding adventures.





The amount of ventilation ports almost double in the 2014 Adventure Rally. More ventilation ports offer riders with more temperature control. Klim also updated the ventilation ports with YKK water-resistant zippers instead of the previous Gore-Tex Lock Out closures. The YKK zippers are easier to adjust on the go. The robust YKK zippers are also stronger than the previous Gore-Tex Lock Out closures.




Klim Adventure Rally Pants Review:

Finally, Klim focused on the smaller details to bring this system full circle. Starting with reflectivity, Klim incorporated 3M’s Bio-Motion Recognition panels which create a silhouette of reflectivity during dark nights and gloomy days. 3M tests have shown that reflective panels situated in the form of a human body are easier to recognize. Standard on all Klim gear is the well-known emergency ID pocket with a personalized ID card. Klim carried over the removable waterproof Leatt neck brace collar, 3L hydration pouch, heat-resistant leather inner leg panels, and bottom hem shock cord from the previous version. Finally, Klim updated the new version with a full circumference, jacket to pant, YKK zipper for a complete connection. The only thing this system is missing is a toaster oven...or is it?

The Adventure Rally is a masterpiece. Every stitch has a purpose. If you only get satisfaction when your bike and body are pushed to their limits, the Adventure Rally could be your best friend. It’s up for any challenge you can throw at it.

Cold Weather ADV Motorcycle Gear Guide

It's that time of year again. Time to put away the lightweight summer mesh jackets and bust out the brawnier winter motorcycle gear. Park the sportbike in the garage until spring and roll out the GS (or KTM or V-Strom of course). No more outdoor picnics in the sunshine. Just raw, bleak, absolutely bone-chilling weather. There will be freezing rain, sleet, blizzards. All of this makes it seem like the perfect time to ride, right? If you have the right gear for the weather, then there's no doubt about it.

That said, we're rolling out a series of HD videos we're calling our 2010 Cold Weather Motorcycle Gear Guides. Our hope is that these guides will serve as a means to navigate the vast array of cold weather motorcycle gear, effectively making the buying process that much easier. We've broken it down into four categories: Everyday Riding, Sport Riding, Sport Touring, and ADV Touring.

This first video focuses on our picks for Cold Weather ADV Touring Motorcycle Gear. We cover six different outfits from five brands to give a glance at the many different options available. Check out the full video below:

The first outfit we featured is REV'IT!'s new flagship all-season all-weather outfit, born from their new marriage with GORE-TEX. The REV'IT! Defender GTX Jacket & REV'IT! Defender GTX Pants will perform tremendously under any conditions that Mother Nature throws. We've done a two full 10-minute videos on the Defender, one in which we discuss application, features, and fit; in the other we break down the armor and liner system. Next up is the new for Fall 2010 Alpinestars Durban Gore-Tex Jacket & Alpinestars Durban Gore-Tex Pants. With a strong history of producing apparel for the race track and roots in motocross gear, it only seemed logical that Alpinestars would eventually enter the ADV Touring realm with strong offerings. Building on the strong foundation of the Alpinestars Frontier Gore-Tex Jacket, they spent another year worth of R&D and came out swinging with the Durban suit. The Alpinestars Durban Suit plays really well in the arena of ADV Touring gear and offers a ton of four-season versatility. We'll be rolling out our full 15-minute review of this suit in the very near future.

Third in line is the Firstgear TPG Rainier Jacket & Firstgear TPG Escape Pants. We already knew that Firstgear had hit an ADV Touring home run last fall when they released the TPG Rainier, a jacket that immediately joined the upper-echelon of all-season all-weather gear. But the R&D in the TPG pants weren't quite there yet. Give them another year of hard work, and they roll out the much new and improved TPG Escape pants. The addition of molecular-level d3o armor, the completely redesigned fit & articulation and a generally more well-thought out product results in a pair of winter motorcycle pants that can flex its muscles up against the best of the best on the market.

The Olympia X-Moto Jacket and Olympia X-Moto Pants also get a thumbs-up from us. Out of all the cold weather ADV motorcycle gear we carry, this outfit is likely to be the most versatile in terms of multi-season wearability. Utilizing Olympia's Mega Vent Panel system, this suit will work very well with the integrated hydration pack in the summer as well as performing exceptionally in the brutal, bitter cold of winter. The waterproof breathable liner will keep you dry, the Thermolite lining will keep you warm, and the 2000D Cordura reinforcements will keep you protected. This is a great middle-of-the-road option that offers a ton of bang for the buck.

Next, we featured the Klim Adventure Rally Jacket & Klim Adventure Rally Pants for the rider who is going to do the majority of riding off-road. Think something along the lines of a 90% off-road, 10% on-road split. Inspired by the Dakar Rally, Klim created this suit to be the most bomb-proof outershell on the market today. Constructed exclusively with the most rugged GORE-TEX materials, the Klim Adventure Rally Suit is waterproof, breathable and ultimately indestructible. The only caveat with this outfit is the lack of thermal liner. Basically, what you choose to do for in terms of insulation is your call with this suit, but the exterior is heavy-duty to the point where we couldn't leave it out.

Finally, perhaps the best-selling ADV touring outfit over the last three years at RevZilla.com, the REV'IT! Cayenne Pro Jacket & REV'IT! Cayenne Pro Pants. Prior to the previously-detailed REV'IT! Defender GTX Jacket & Pants, this was the absolute mountaintop for REV'IT's ADV gear. And for good reason. RevZilla's New Motorcycle Gear Guide July 2010

New product overview from RevZilla for the month of July 2010. We feature some brand new gear as well as some products that flew off the shelves when we first got them in. They are fully back in stock.

We just got a ton of Arai RX-Q Helmets. When these first shipped earlier this year, we sold through our stock in a hurry. For a while all you could get were Smalls and Extra Larges. Now we have a full supply in all sizes and colors.

The Klim Adventure Rally Jacket & Adventure Rally Pants, an absolute bombproof dualsport all-season outfit, is fully back in stock as well. The original production wasn't enough as this best-in-class outfit didn't stay in the warehouse very long. The good news is it's back, and we have a lot of them.

On the stylish riding shoe front, Puma has just released a black-white version of the very popular Puma Flat v2 and an all-blacked-out version of the brand new Puma Testastretta II. These boots are sweet and they look great on and off the bike.
