REV'IT! Bastion GTX Gloves - Gore-Tex Winter Glove

The REVIT! Bastion GTX Glove is the ultimate winter glove from both a protective and waterproof breathability standpoint. REV'IT used the GORE-TEX membrane for the highest level of breathability and water/weatherproofing and utilized state-of-the-art fabrics and protection elements derived from their MotoGP gloves to create a breakthrough winter glove.

We are really excited about the new live of REV'IT! GORE-TEX motorcycle gear. Combining the leader of the pack in ADV touring gear with the most proven and trusted manufacturer of waterproof breathable gear is a home run all day long. The REVIT Bastion GTX glove does not disappoint. The outershell is constructed using teflon-coated 1000D ripstop Cordura, water-repellent goatskin and suede leather, and Schoeller Dynamic which is an extremely durable stretch fabric that breathes well and dries quickly. The Schoeller also utilizes their proprietary Nanosphere material, which is a hydrophobic fabric to which water and dirt can not affix to. This makes it really easy to keep clean and extends the life of the glove. The addition of SuperFabric, tiny laser-welded ceramic plates 14x more abrasion-resistant than Kevlar, adds to the overall protective value of this glove.

Of course you've got the GORE-TEX waterproof breathable membrane built into the core of the glove to keep you warm and dry in the cold and wet months, but you've also got a Thermolite Plus push-pull tri-fleece liner. This offers a very comfortable feel against the hand and also provides a great level of warmth. As far as protection, REV'IT! borrowed heavily from their MotoGP gloves for the REVIT Bastion GTX. PU injected finger knuckles and backhand protection with TPU hard-shell little finger protector, a dual-comp honeycomb palm slider with added EVA foam reinforcements at the thumb and wrist. You're going to be safe in this glove.

There are also all of the subtle creature comforts that REV'IT never leaves out of the mix. Stretch paneling at the fingers and the back of the hand so the hard parts stay in place and your hand is never uncomfortable, gripping the controls or otherwise. Goat Window grip patches are integrated into the first two fingers and across the palm for superior tactile feel and grip. Elastication at the wrist aids in accurate fit and allows the glove to be worn inside or outside a jacket with a single velcro cuff. Finally, and this may be our favorite feature, is the visor wiper on the index finger of the left hand. This makes it really simple to keep your visor clean when you're on those long adventure rides.

Straight up, this is a phenomenal glove that is sure to be a big hit in our winter glove line-up.

Marley Africa Road Trip 2010 : Press Release

Marley Africa Road Trip 2010

“It’s a historic moment for Africa. We’re gonna take a road trip through it.”

These are the words of Ziggy Marley, eldest son of reggae superstar Bob Marley and heir to one of the most legendary families in music, on the historic motorcycle trip he took to Africa with his brothers, Rohan and Robbie, during World Cup 2010: the first-ever World Cup to be held in Africa.

REV'IT! tested to the limit

Camping under the stars and staying with local families kept the team close to Africa’s people, land, and wildlife, and their REV’IT! GORE-TEX® Defender GTX jackets and trousers kept the Marley brothers well equipped for all the twists and turns of their trip. Capturing all of the action was award-winning producer/director David Alexanian and his production crew from Elixir Films, for a series called Marley Africa Road Trip. Alexanian is known for filming Ewan McGregor’s unforgettable motorcycle trips across the world, in the series Long Way Round and Long Way Down, and he has created a wonderful record of the Marleys’ trip and its meaning to them, in part through personal interviews and tour diaries.

Arai Profile Helmet HD Video Review

Catering to the folks out their with the long oval shaped heads that get pressure points on the forehead from intermediate oval helmets, the Arai Profile was released to meet their needs. Packing the same qualities and feature set of Arai's other motorcycle helmets, the Arai Profile Helmet is the solution to the long-suffering masses who experience head pain every time they ride.

The vast majority of motorcycle helmets on the market are either globe-shaped (think HJC) or medium-oval (Shoei, Scorpion, etc). Arai saw a glaring need for the rider who doesn't fit these helmets. Out came the Arai Profile.

The shell is Arai's Complex Laminate Construction which is a fiberglass composite that is strong and light, allowing the use of softer, less-dense liner fabrics for excellent comfort. The dual intake & dual exhaust ventilation system flows a ton of air when riding in a medium upright position, keeping your head cool and dry. The brow ventilation system flows cool air to the upper face area with vents at the upper faceshield, without compromising the strength or protective elements of the helmet. Arai has become known for the quality of these small details. The liner is antimicrobial and anti-bacterial, fully removable and washable as well as the cheekpads. The removable breath guard and chin curtain help to prevent fogging by deflecting breath away from the shield.

This helmet is a great choice for the guy who has yet to find the helmet that fits his long, narrow head. It meets or exceeds DOT and Snell 2005 standards and provides a super quiet and comfortable ride. Available in eight solids and four graphics.

REV'IT! Defender GTX Gore-Tex Jacket & Pants

The godfather of the new REV'IT! and GORE-TEX collaboration is the REV'IT! Defender GTX Jacket & REV'IT! Defender GTX Pants. With its multiple liner system, SAS-TEC molecular-level armor, and next level technologies throughout the outfit, it really is a best-in-class all-weather all-season ADV Touring suit.

In Part 1, we detail the application, features, and fit of REV'IT Defender GTX Outfit.

Part 2 is the detailed breakdown of the armor and the liner system.

A logical progression from the REV'IT! Cayenne Pro Jacket & REV'IT Cayenne Pro Pants, the REVIT! Defender GTX Jacket & Pants has set a new standard for the serious ADV Touring rider. The Defender GTX outfit integrates a detachable GORE-TEX Performance Shell and keeps all the elements out but allows your body's perspiration to pass through. It also features the REVIT Exkin Air thermal liner: completely removable for the warm months, 1/2 the weight & 1/2 thickness of DuPont Thermolite but offering 4x more warmth and insulation. You're completely dry and warm for the cold and rainy times; pull out the liners in the jacket and pants, open the zippered ventilation panels, and you're flowing a ton of air and staying cool in the hot months.

Let's delve into the protective elements of this outfit. The outershell is constructed with Cordura 1000D ripstop & 500D PWRShell with 1000D & 1200D Cordura ripstop reinforcements. All of these materials are treated with a Teflon coating to give an added level of water repellency. With all of these beefy fabrics, one would think the Defender GTX would be bulky and crunchy, which couldn't be farther from the truth. REV'IT! managed to develop a nearly indestructible outfit that is still comfortable and soft to the touch. There are large SuperFabric panels on both the elbows and knees for great abrasion resistance. SuperFabric is 14x more abrasion-resistant than Kevlar; tiny welded ceramic plates that slide longer and do not conduct heat and therefore don't transfer heat to your body. Space age stuff no doubt. Protecting you in the event of a get-off is SAS-TEC molecular-level armor. SAS-TEC becomes soft and flexible with the heat given off by your body, but at the moment of impact rapidly turns rigid and disperses the energy across the surface area. SAS-TEC has the highest CE rating available. So that covers the safety and protective features.

For warm weather riding, once you've got the liners out, the large velcro-open and snap-down panels on the chest and legs flow a great deal of air. These panels are backed with 3D mesh, which is a thicker mesh construction that facilitates excellent circulation of air and essentially creates a microclimate that will keep your body very cool. There are two more ventilation zips on the chest and two-way ventilation zips on each arm. All of this airflow cools your body and flows out of two large exhaust vents on the back, creating that great venturi effect.

As with every garment in the REV'IT! lineup, the attention to detail in the REV'IT! Defender GTX Jacket & Pants is second to none. The creature comforts are absolutely off the charts: the 7-way adjustable collar with hook & loop lockdown system; adjustability at the cuffs, the lower and upper arms, waist cinching, hip drawcord, and adjustment tabs at the ankles; Karvin anti-heat and anti-wear cowhide at the inner leg to prevent wear and heat damage from pipes; stylish 3M reflective paneling; waterproof stash pockets; and the CoolMax antimicrobial moisture-wicking washable lining. The list goes on and on and on.

The REV'IT! Defender GTX Jacket & REV'IT Defender GTX Pants are really something to marvel at in the ADV Touring motorcycle industry. REVIT continues to innovate and integrate new technologies with great R&D to produce the finest adventure touring gear out there. We're impressed. And that's a massive understatement.

REV'IT! Legacy GTX GORE-TEX Jacket & Pants

Continuing their absolute domination of the ADV Touring motorcycle riding world, REV'IT! linked up with GORE-TEX to make products even more waterproof breathable and utterly bombproof. The REVIT Legacy GTX GORE-TEX Jacket & Legacy GTX Pants was built for serious ADV touring enthusiasts in areas where it is chilly most of the year; Northwesterners, Canadians, Northern Europeans, I'm looking at you.

Part 1 of our review of the REVIT! Legacy GTX GORE-TEX Outfit demonstrates the applications, features and fit of this brand new for Fall 2010 gear.

In Part 2, Anthony pulls out all the armor and walks through the liner system of the REV'IT! Legacy GTX Gore-Tex Jacket and Pants.

What makes this outfit very appropriate for slightly colder climates where there is frequent precipitation is the fact that the waterproof breathability is actually sandwiched into the outer shell. Unlike the REV'IT! Defender GTX Gore-Tex Jacket where the waterproof breathable liner is removable for those blazing hot days when you want all the liners out, the GORE-TEX Z-Liner is permanently attached to the outfit. If you live in an area of extreme heat and humidity, this suit will probably not be the best choice. You may want to take a look at the REVIT! Defender GTX Jacket & Pants. The REV'IT Legacy GTX does have some venting and will do a good job if the mercury is not soaring, but I'll reiterate: not ideal for Florida.

The REVIT! Legacy GTX has a great feature set that has become par-for-the-course from REV'IT. Pro-Life CE rated armor in the shoulders, elbows and knees; a detachable quilted liner featuring CoolMax antimicrobial moisture wicking fabric; shell construction from PWRShell 750 & 500 denier with 1000D ripstop Cordura reinforcements; large ventilation zips at chest, back, under the arms, and on the legs; a ton of adjustability via straps, tabs, drawcords and snaps; a 7-way adjustable collar with a hook & loop lockdown system; and of course, elasticated stretch paneling in all the critical flex areas.

We continue to be dazzled by every step forward that REVIT takes, probably because their strides are more like enormous leaps. This new teaming with GORE-TEX has got to scare the competition, because at this rate, REV'IT! will soon be saying ''what competition?'
