Icon Sub Gloves HD Video Review

The Icon Sub Gloves are one of those great bang-for-the-buck products we carry at RevZilla. It's very seldom that you'll see a motorcycle glove at this price point featuring a full goatskin palm. It's also packed with a bunch of other features that really set it apart from other basic short cuff summertime gloves. If you're a sportbike guy and you're into the aggressive style that Icon brings to all of their products, you'll want to pay attention to this one.

At $45, the Icon Sub Motorcycle Glove is a short cuff, lightweight summertime glove. The back of the hand is a textile construction to protect the hand and flow air while the palm is constructed from Icon's Battlehide Goatskin for tactile feel and abrasion resistance. Further protection is added by the injection-molded temperfoam that lives in the fingers and the injected plastic knuckle armor. This knuckle armor is also punctuated and will flow air at speed. The closure is a single velcro strap with a rubberized outer for durability.

Like I said, for a $45 short cuff summertime street riding glove, the Icon Sub (available in five graphics and a solid black option) packs a mean punch.

Alpinestars Ridge Waterproof Boot

Designed for the motorcycle rider seeking gear that is as stylish as it is protective, the Alpinestars Ridge Waterproof Boot keeps your feet and ankles safe, but also looks great when you step off the bike. Utilizing the most advanced Alpinestars safety and design technologies, the Ridge offers maximum comfort, protection and style all at a price point that's right under $130.

Manufacturing motorcycle gear for nearly 50 years, Alpinestars has established itself as a leader in the industry in terms of protection and style for serious sportbike riders and racers. They settle for nothing less than the finest in Italian workmanship, utilizing the finest in materials and innovative technologies. The same holds true for the Alpinestars Ridge Waterproof Boot. This 3/4 length boot is built for ADV Touring and city riding, and looks great under a pair of jeans. That's a great deal of versatility for a boot that you simply don't find at this price point.

Let me go over some of the specs on this boot. The outer construction is fully-coated Italian leather atop a 100% waterproof breathable membrane that will keep your foot dry in rainy conditions but allow perspiration to escape through, keeping your foot cool and comfortable. There is an injection-molded PU heel counter which supports and protects the heel with plasticized disks that protect the ankle. The newly designed midsole contours to the shape of the foot and utilizes a structured steel shank reinforcement and internal toe counters for protection. All of the protective elements have achieved CE certification.

For creature comforts, AStars added achilles flex zones for ankle comfort and a removable anatomic footbed with multi-density EVA foam padding. Basically, the thickness and rigidity of the foam is variable depending on the area of the foot. This ensures a snug yet super-comfortable fit. There is also a velcro adjuster at the instep for that added level of comfort.

To compare this boot with its competitors, visit the waterproof motorcycle boots section of RevZilla.com. We think this boot offers great value and versatility for its price point.

Keep it safe, keep it stylish.

Arctic Adventure - 11,424

11,424!

After slogging through some more blazing heat and slow moving traffic all the way from DC, I made it back to Philly just as it started rain - a welcome relief!

In lieu of photographic evidence of my odometer before leaving (I forgot!), I resorted to my tire change receipt, which was done right before leaving.  Honest!

The motorcycle is back in the garage - where I suspect it'll stay for quite a while!

Finally, If you haven't already donated, heck, even if you've already donated, you can make a donation on my Arctic Adventure blog or on the SDCADVSA website.  Remember, all the proceeds go to Native American women who are victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Lastly, I want to thank the good guys at Revzilla for letting my post my adventure to their blog.  Remember, they're good guys who sell good motorcycle gear to good riders.
