Continual innovation, extensive R+D, and a dedication to producing some of the most high-performance lids on the market at all price points has defined Bell Helmets since their inception many moons ago. For Spring 2011, they've delivered a helmet that is a first for the sport and street riding communities: a fully performance and sport-focused modular helmet. The Bell Revolver Helmet takes the concept of the Bell Star and Vortex makes some modifications, and becomes an industry revolution. With performance, function and comfort all kept in mind, the Bell Revolver is an exciting new product for this season.
The Bell Revolver is a fully functional modular helmet utilizing a single push button with a chin bar that rotates on an aluminum hinge. It has an internal sun visor, a feature we've found to be extremely convenient and useful when the sun dips in and out of the clouds. The mechanism that operates the sun shield has clicking lock settings in both the open and closed positions eliminating the pesky rattling that plagues many competitors' sun visors. The shield is the same as the Vortex, Star and RS-1: Bell's Nutra Fog II anti-fog shield that features the Click Release fast-change mechanism. It also can accommodate the Bell Transitions Shield, an immensely popular photochromic shield that changes tint based on the ambient light, essentially eliminating
the need for shield changes based on light conditions.
The Revolver is a lightweight polycarbonate alloy shell with exceptional aerodynamic and ventilating properties. At Bell HQ in California, they have both a wind tunnel and a water tunnel in house, allowing for the best possible shapes, contours, and positioning of vents. The guts of the Revolver are fully removable and washable, antibacterial, moisture-wicking, and the cheek pads are contour cut for the highest levels of comfort. Bell's patented Magnafusion strap keeper makes flapping straps a headache of the past. Extraordinary comfort and ergonomics, with excellent ventilation and aerodynamics, subtle creature comforts AND being the first sport-oriented modular? The Bell Revolver Helmet is an absolute grand slam across the board. Just look at it; you'd never know it flipped up.
The new Bell Helmets that have had us excited for the last couple months have finally been unleashed to the riding world. Something for everyone, this series of Bell lids does an extremely good job of filling holes in their lineup in addition to introducing motorcyclists to a brand new concept. The Bell Revolver Helmet is an absolutely revolutionary lid, being the first modular helmet ever designed for true sport riding. While we are patiently awaiting the helmets to arrive so we can shoot our video reviews, we can share some high resolution photography (click to enlarge) and some quick details about each lid.
The brand new Bell RS-1 Helmet is designed to be a head-to-head competitor with the Shoei RF-1100 Helmet; a mid-level price point helmet that delivers high-end performance for the sport touring market. The RS-1 fills the void in the Bell lineup between the Vortex and the Star, delivering an extremely aerodynamic design, a comfortable and airflow-rich interior, and a lightweight and protective shell. This helmet is going to be huge in amongst the sport riding community.
Answering the call of the sport rider, the Bell Revolver Helmet is the first modular helmet truly designed to perform in street riding scenarios. Most modular helmets are completely focused for the sport and ADV touring markets, with little regards to street riders looking for versatility in a lid. At an extremely reasonable price point for a Bell helmet with this degree of functionality, the Revolver should be a big hit this season for Bell.
Bell's newest dirt lid is completely performance focused. Aerodynamic, lightweight, comfortable, and featuring improved safety elements, the Bell Moto-9 Helmet has taken dirt helmets to the next level. Featuring a brand new Eject Helmet Removal System, the Moto-9 becomes extremely easy to gently remove in a serious accident scenario. With Snell 2010 certfication, TriMatrix composite shell, and the adjustable Flying Bridge Visor, the Moto-9 was developed in conjunction with Supercross pro James Stewart who is currently wearing it on the circuit.
We've recently caught wind that there are a few new Bell Helmets slated for release in early 2011 that we think are going to make an enormous splash in the industry. The first of the new guys is going to be called the Bell Revolver Helmet. From what we understand, it is going to be a sport-focused modular helmet built for performance on the street. Modular helmets are generally designed for the sport and adventure touring markets and even for commuters, so to catch wind that the Bell Revolver Helmet is going to be a modular designed for sport and
