New Alpinestars Cold Weather Gloves 2012

The New Alpinestars Cold Weather Gloves stick it to mother nature and make peace with the multi-season sport and sport touring community. There is no Twix, but welcome to your candy lineup.

Alpinestars Tech Road Gore-Tex GlovesThe Alpinestars Tech Road gloves are the top of the line in Gore-Tex waterproofing, cold weather gloves. Made of goatskin leather for abrasion and tear resistance, a leather and suede reinforced construction makes them extra durable.  Insulation has been added to the top and side surfaces of the fingers for added warmth while a taffeta lining makes entry and exit from the glove easier. The index finger has a touch screen stylus for use on a GPS. The EVA inserts have increased impact absorption and palm sliders for abrasion resistance. A TPR visor wiper is on the left thumb and the wrist has a double closure.
Alpinestars Jet Road Gore-Tex Gloves

The Alpinestars Jet Road  Gore-Tex gloves are a waterproof, gauntlet glove built with a blend of leather and textile. Made of a high abrasion fabric and goatskin leather for abrasion and tear resistance, the Jet Road also use advanced EVA inserts to increase impact absorption. The molded knuckle protectors have built-in shock resistance. The gauntlet has a twin-wrist designed to close the jacket sleeves and seal out the elements while a water drain eyelet system on releases any water caught in the double-cuff. As with the Tech Road, the Jet Road gloves also have the TPR helmet visor wipe and touch screen stylus.

Alpinestars Polar Gore-Tex Gloves

The Alpinestars Polar Gore-Tex gloves don't look wintry at a 3/4 length. Instead, they have a sportier appeal and were made to be worn under your jacket sleeve. Constructed of goatskin and a high abrasion fabric, suede reinforcements provide superior durability and grip. These gloves also have high-density padded inserts, a touch screen stylus, and a double wrist closure. A chamude (type of leather) snot patch lines the outside of the left thumb along with a visor wiper.

Alpinestars WR-3 Gore-Tex Gloves

The Alpinestar WR-3 Gore-Tex gloves are made of goatskin and have a full gauntlet that's intended to be worn over your jacket. It's not as heavily insulated as the Tech Road, Jet Road or Polar gloves, but it does have enough insulation on the top of the glove and the sides of the fingers  to serve well as a three season glove. Like the other gloves in the line, it has a visor wipe, knuckle protectors, reflective strips and accordion inserts on the fingers and top of the hand for flexibility. This glove is available in women's as well, the Stella WR-3.

Alpinestars Overland Drystar Gloves

The Alpinestars Overland gloves are a Drystar waterproof glove without medium strength insulation. Made of goatskin with suede reinforcements, they are highly abrasion resistant. EVA inserts increase the impact absorption. Other features that mirror Astars other gloves include accordion inserts on the fingers and top of the hand, molded knuckle protectors and reflective details.

Alpinestars Leather Glove Updates for Late 2012

Rock solid and brand new for this Autumn, Alpinestars brings us two completely new gloves, which are redesigned for hardcore riding, just in time for those crisp fall rides!

Alpinestars GP Pro GlovesThe Alpinestars GP Pro, already a premier and popular glove in the line-up, has implemented a number of improved features. Included in these advancements is K-Tech Kevlar, bringing together Kevlar, leather and foam to create a wall of protection and superior abrasion resistance to the most vulnerable phalange: the pinkie. Kevlar is also used as the inner lining on the top of the hand and thumb. Another new feature is found in the L-shaped PU slider for even more abrasion resistance. Other niceties on the glove include ventilation via an abrasion resistant backhand vent and a patented racing finger bridge (which keeps the little finger in place). This bridge feature also helps eliminate abrasion of your finger and the surrounding exterior seams.  The New GP Pro is available in five colors.

Alpinestars GP Plus GlovesThe Alpinestars GP Plus is a hair less technical from the GP Pro, but is also a track worthy glove. The new changes to this glove incorporate the addition of the PU palm slider and two new colors. Other attributes of this glove you may already be familiar with include a full grain bovine leather construction, goatskin leather inserts, and DFS Thermo injected finger (and knuckle) protectors. This glove, like the Pro, also has the Alpinestars patented racing finger bridge that prevents finger separation and stops twisting around the fourth finger in the event of a slide. The Plus is available in four colors.

Alpinestars Spring 2012 Gear - Gloves

Another riding season, another slew of new gear from Alpinestars that further solidifies their reputation as a leader in the motorcycle gear industry. In this write-up, we're going to focus on the new glove choices that are part of the Alpinestars Spring 2012 Gear lineup.

Alpinestars SP-2 Gloves (2012) - a redesign of the a long-running gauntlet in the AStars lineup, the Alpinestars SP-2 Gloves offer a lot of features and functionality at an extremely reasonable price point. A mix of goatskin leather (at the palm and fingers) and cowhide (at the backhand), these gloves provide tactile feel and a ton of protection. There is a hard part carbon main knuckle protector with foam inserts at the fingers and lateral side of the gauntlet. The 3rd-4th finger bridge that Alpinestars is known for also makes its way into this glove that offers huge bang for the buck.

Alpinestars Octane-S Moto Gloves - a previous standout as a short cuff riding glove that could crossover from sport riding to supermoto, the new Octane-S has received a style upgrade but remains true to what it was in its previous life: a highly protective short cuff glove that will flow a ton of air and be extremely comfortable in all hot weather riding scenarios. A full-grain leather upper, hard part main knuckle armor, and large perf scheme are some of the standout features of the Alpinestars Octane S-Moto Gloves.

Alpinestars SP-X Gloves - one of the most protective short cuff sport-focused riding gloves in the AStars lineup has received a style makeover for 2012. The SP-X is a full goatskin leather construction with air mesh inserts to keep you cool and protected. Carbon fiber protectors are found at the main knuckle and three first fingers, all of which is backed by foam for added impact protection. Double layered leather can be found in key areas while the 3rd-4th finger bridge protects the pinky in impact.

The popular Alpinestars Scheme Kevlar Gloves from last year have gotten themselves an upgrade as we move into 2012. Rather than the denim of last year's model, the new Scheme Kevlars feature a Clarino, 3D mesh, PU and synthetic leather shell. There is still that great carbon fiber armor in addition to the Kevlar lining, but they've toned down the recklessness of the denim shell and made this into a more viable sport and touring option. Comfortable and protective, these gloves provide a ton of bang for the buck.

Alpinestars Jet Road Gore-Tex Gloves Review

One of Alpinestars newest cold weather sport gloves are the Alpinestars Jet Road Gore-Tex Gloves. Alpinestars has earned a reputation around the motorcycle community for creating great, high quality gear and these gloves further enhance their rep. This glove, with its very protective outer and comfortable inner, is meant for cold weather riding whether in rain, sleet, or snow.

First let's check out the Alpinestars Jet Road Gore-Tex Gloves Review:

As mentioned in the title, the Jet Roads do come with a Gore-Tex waterproof breathable liner which is guaranteed to keep your hands dry while riding by wicking away moisture and letting your hand breathe so that it doesn't get all clammy inside the glove. As with most European products, it is recommended to buy a size larger than your American size because of the standard tight fitting of the glove. The knuckle is made of carbon fiber which is both lightweight and durable to provide solid protection. The outer of the glove is primarily composed of leather and tough stretch textile mainly to beef it up but keep it comfortable at the same time. There is also clarino reinforcement on the glove to provide additional reinforcement for those more vulnerable and active parts of your hands such as the palm and your hand's outer side.

For flexibility, Alpinestars has included a stretch panel beneath the thumbs to give you that extra motion needed for your thumb. The palm is constructed primarily of leather and the aforementioned clarino reinforcement to give you that ample needed protection. There is silicone on the parts of your hand that hold the handlebars to provide extra grip and avoid your hands from slipping and sliding off the bars, especially in the wet weather. Additionally there is an added light micro fleece liner from your wrist on up to provide extra warmth when riding in colder weather.

All in all, these gloves are a top of the line product for cold weather riding and being engineered by Alpinestars, should instantly become a favorite amongst cold weather riders.

RevZilla's Favorite Fall Alpinestars Gloves for 2011

Throughout this past year, and the last ten-plus years for that matter, Alpinestars has had many popular products amongst the motorcycle riding community. Alpinestars Gloves in particular were a big success. Their three most popular gloves amongst riders were the Alpinestars Apex Drystar Gloves, the Alpinestars SP-X Gloves, and the Alpinestars Arctic Drystar Gloves. It comes as no surprise as Alpinestars has always been known to create high quality yet stylish gloves enabling riders to get the best of both worlds, and these gloves are no exception.

First up, we'll take a look at the Alpinestars Apex Drystar Gloves Review:

These gloves contain a mix of leather and textile to provide a comfortable feel for the city commuter or easy touring rider. Additionally, the Apex glove features an extra warm and cozy thermal velour liner combined with Alpinestars 100% waterproof and breathable Drystar membrane to keep cold and wet weather away from hands. They feature a goatskin glove chassis with padded textile palm reinforcements and a molded PU knuckle and foam padding on fingers. They also include an ultra-flexible accordion textile on top of the hand and around the thumb and a full-length wrist gauntlet with dual wrist adjustment and an accordion panel for flex in the gauntlet area.

Next we'll take a glimpse at the Alpinestars SP-X Gloves Review:

They are composed of a full-grain leather and air mesh construction therefore making them sport/multi-purpose, lightweight riding gloves. For additional protection, they include a synthetic suede palm with leather reinforcements for improved grip and protection and carbon fiber knuckle, side palm and finger protection. To further protect yourself, Alpinestars has featured micro-injected knuckle protection, a leather-reinforced thumb, and EVA padded wrist protection. Comfort-wise, they come with silicone printing on the fingertips for increased grip and a neoprene cuff for comfort.

Last, but not least, we'll check out the Alpinestars Arctic Drystar Gloves Review:

These are particular interesting as they are meant for all seasons except for extreme weather seasons (winter, summer) and were made particularly for on and off road ADV touring. They are constructed of a blend of a textile upper construction and goatskin palm construction with clarino reinforcement. For additional protection they have included over-molded hard PU knuckle protection and 4mm EVA foam padding on top of the hand, fingers and wrist, and a high finger bridge for protection on your two outer fingers. For comfort, they have integrated accordion stretch inserts on top of hand and fingers, pre-curved finger construction, and the Drystar waterproof breathable membrane.

Another solid batch of products from Alpinestars to complement their new run of redesigned boots and shoes.

Alpinestars S-MX 2 Air Carbon Glove Review

Sometimes a bestselling product only needs slight modifications to become even more of a powerhouse than it was before. Such is the case with the brand new Alpinestars S-MX 2 Air Carbon Gloves, a staple in the Alpinestars lineup. With slight improvements in comfort, performance and protection, Alpinestars has elevated this short cuff summer sport riding glove to the next level.

Check out our Alpinestars SMX-2 Air Carbon Gloves Review:

Available in six color options to match the style of your ride, the SMX-2 Air Carbons are a leather and mesh design for safety and airflow on hot summer days. The leather keeps you protected while the ample mesh paneling will rush air through the gloves to keep you cool. At the backhand, carbon fiber knuckle armor protects from impact while TPR inserts in the fingers and back provide additional reinforcement. At the inside, a synthetic leather palm is reinforced by Clarino panels for protection and durability in high-use and high-wear areas. There are also foam padded inserts at the heel of the hand for vibration dampening and added protection from impact.

Rubberized panels at the inside of the fingertips provide a high degree of grip while the neoprene-style cuff and TPR velcro flap offer a comfortable and custom-fitting closure. What really sets this glove apart is Alpinestars ability to pack style, protection, airflow and overall performance into a glove at this price point. The fact that so many color options are available to suit your personal style is just bonus points. Alpinestars S-MX 2 Gloves: Urban Sport Riding

The lightweight and comfortable Alpinestars S-MX 2 Air Carbon Gloves draw their inspiration entirely from the motocross world. Aggressive MX styling with five color options, including a bright orange, the AStars SMX-2 Glove is a great urban street riding glove for the summertime.

The Alpinestars S-MX-2 Air Carbon glove is very straightforward in construction, a combination of mesh, clarino synthetic leather, and full-grain leather in the fabric areas. The carbon fiber knuckle protection is constructed on a flexible articulated panel which maintains the armor in its proper place whether you're gripping the controls or if your hand is fully extended. That's just a great subtlety of Alpinestars design. For added protection, there are plastic hard parts on the fingers and on the back of the hand. Silicone printing on the fingertips for increased grip, a rubberized velcro wrist closure, and a neoprene cuff round out the features on this great bang-for-the-buck glove.
