Klim Adventure Gloves Review

If you're in search of a true ADV glove that will perform extremely well in Spring-Summer-Fall, the Klim Adventure Glove should absolutely be on your shortlist. Klim puts a huge focus on their enduro and dirt lineups and this glove is designed as the counterpart to that rugged gear. Compound this with the fact that it truly can function as a dualsport glove, and the Klim Adventure Glove is a serious contender within our top Summer Adventure Glove picks.

Check out our Klim Adventure Glove Review:

The chassis of the Adventure glove is Pittards water-resistant leather. Pittards is a premium renowned leather manufacturer and their gloves are more resilient than traditional cowhide. For impact protection, the Adventure gloves utilize Poron XRD padding at the knuckles, fingers, and at the base of the palm. Poron XRD is part of the new wave of molecular-level impact protectors. Soft and flexible to the touch, this padding becomes rigid upon impact and instantly disperses and absorbs energy. The finger tips are reinforced for durability while the palm features double layers in select areas to deter wear.

Strategic corded nylon panels and fourchettes at the outer fingers work in conjunction with the perf Pittards on the top of the wrist and fingers for a high degree of airflow. The fingers also feature an outseam construction to reduce pressure points and overall fatigue in enduring rides. 3M scotchlite reflective piping guarantees visibility on these gloves while the logos on the Adventure are both embroidered and micro-injected for longevity. Lastly, the adjustable velcro closure strap ensures a snug fit while the pull tab on the palm is one of our favorite features as it provides a designated spot for pulling the glove on and off.

We think the Klim Adventure Glove is bringing a lot of value to the table and will play extremely well in the ADV and Dualsport crowd. Check it out as part of our 2011 Motorcycle Glove Guide and see other options by visiting our Summer Motorcycle Glove page.

Teknic SMT Gloves review

Teknic has always been able to step up and offer motorcycle gloves for a great value and without skimping on quality, protection, or style.  The Teknic SMT Gloves are Teknic's top of the line and most technical short cuff motorcycle gloves. They fit right into the aggressive street and sport riding market and the SMT glove is supposed to be the short cuff alternative to the Teknic Lightning Glove and offer many of the same benefits and features. This is a great choice for the rider looking for a short cuff glove that doesn't break the bank and doesn't making any sacrifices in safety or quality.

Check out our Teknic SMT Glove Review:

What really makes this glove stand out is the amount of protection you're getting for less then 60 bucks.  The SMT has a full premium grade drum dyed cowhide construction with the same dual impact stitching that you see on the Teknic race gloves.  There's a large hard PVC knuckle that sits comfortably on the front of the hand. On lesser gloves the knuckle protector is stitched behind the glove making movement much more restricting but on the SMT it gets its own flap to make motion feel freer. Each digit except for the pinky has a set of PVC protectors which really give the glove a very aggressive style. Teknic knows the outside of the hand is a very vulnerable area in a low side crash. The pinky gets soft padding inserts that run all the way down the outside of the hand to the wrist and palm. There's also padding wrapping around the thumb and an extra piece of leather to hold the high impact areas together. The only possible way you can get more protection out of a glove is if you look at a full gauntlet glove to cover more of the wrist and forearm.

It's also worth mentioning that the SMT is very well styled and feels very comfortable. The stitching is very cleanly done and looks almost like they ran this glove through the same machine as their high-end Teknic Speedstar Gloves. There is a good amount of  precurve on the glove and movement feels very free and natural. The palm feels very comfortable and durable thanks to the Kevlar panel. For 54 bucks you're really getting one slick looking glove.

The only complaint I can possibly have against this glove is that the only color available is Black on Black. Other then that, This really is a great bang for the buck. Fit is fairly generous so if you're in between sizes you can normally get away going a size down. Sizes go from SM to double XXXL.

Dainese Huge Air Gloves Review

The Dainese Huge Air Glove is a short cuff summer riding glove. This is your mid-range to higher end mesh riding glove that is intended to fill the sport riding sector of the Dainese glove market for riders seeking lightweight  hot weather riding gloves. At 69 dollars you're looking at a glove that's placed right in the middle of the summer motorcycle glove segment.

Check out our Dainese Huge Air Gloves Review:

The air flow on this glove is supposed to be the key feature of this glove. When wearing this glove you'll notice that about 80 percent of the surface area of this glove is mesh or vented textile fabrics. The back of the fingers all the way to the back of the knuckles is a ventilated mesh along the back of the hand. The cuff of the glove has a few ventilated panels and the palm of the glove is a Clarino construction with some silicone grip panels. There's also a really cool elasticated stretch panel right at the bend of the fingers to prevent the glove from bunching up and providing very free movement. The Huge Air Gloves are very lightweight and breathable and ideal for hot climates. This may not be the best glove for when the rain starts to pour down or when temperatures go below the 50 degree mark but this is the glove you want to have when the temperature begins to approach and pass the triple digit mark and airflow is truly needed.

As far as protection goes, there is a very light TPR insert above the knuckle. All in all this glove is also very stylish and fashionable. My personal favorite color scheme is the white and black with the orange to highlight the wrist and finger bends. There's also a Black-White-Lava red color scheme, a white-black-silver color scheme, and a very stealthy black on black. Sizes go from a very petite xxs to a xxl. This truly is Dainese's take on the hot weather short cuff glove, meaning high performance coupled with excellent style.

Alpinestars S-MX 2 Air Carbon Glove Review

Sometimes a bestselling product only needs slight modifications to become even more of a powerhouse than it was before. Such is the case with the brand new Alpinestars S-MX 2 Air Carbon Gloves, a staple in the Alpinestars lineup. With slight improvements in comfort, performance and protection, Alpinestars has elevated this short cuff summer sport riding glove to the next level.

Check out our Alpinestars SMX-2 Air Carbon Gloves Review:

Available in six color options to match the style of your ride, the SMX-2 Air Carbons are a leather and mesh design for safety and airflow on hot summer days. The leather keeps you protected while the ample mesh paneling will rush air through the gloves to keep you cool. At the backhand, carbon fiber knuckle armor protects from impact while TPR inserts in the fingers and back provide additional reinforcement. At the inside, a synthetic leather palm is reinforced by Clarino panels for protection and durability in high-use and high-wear areas. There are also foam padded inserts at the heel of the hand for vibration dampening and added protection from impact.

Rubberized panels at the inside of the fingertips provide a high degree of grip while the neoprene-style cuff and TPR velcro flap offer a comfortable and custom-fitting closure. What really sets this glove apart is Alpinestars ability to pack style, protection, airflow and overall performance into a glove at this price point. The fact that so many color options are available to suit your personal style is just bonus points. REV'IT! Summit & REV'IT! Summit H2O Gloves Review

The new do-it-all three-season glove has arrived from REV'IT! in the form of the REV'IT! Summit Glove and REV'IT! Summit H2O Glove. Available in mens and womens specific sizings, the Summit has its sights set squarely on the sport touring rider. Stylish, protective, and extremely comfortable, the Summit is a high performance Spring-Summer-Fall glove. For added functionality, look to the Summit H2O for full waterproof breathability; it will make an excellent choice as a Spring-Summer-Fall wet weather riding glove.

Check out our REV'IT! Summit and REV'IT! Summit H2O Gloves Review:

Starting off with the regular Summit, which is also available as the REV'IT! Women's Summit Glove, this glove is a full goatskin outer construction for superior abrasion resistance. The palm features goatskin leather reinforcements in addition to a Schoeller-Keprotec panel both for grip and resistance to wear in high-use areas. Also featured on the palm is an EVA foam injected panel for vibration dampening. Along the outer side of the palm is a dual comp slider, a feature borrowed from REV'IT! race gloves, that operates both as abrasion resistant (it will slide on the ground in a get-off) and impact resistant (the honeycomb structure will crush and absorb and energy caused from impact). Moving along the side of the hand, there is full
leather reinforcement that wraps up the side of the hand and pinky, providing added protection from torsion. The pinky also has a TPU hard shell protector that will protect in a crash scenario, working with the dual comp slider to allow the glove to slide. On the back of the hand, leather coated PU injected finger knuckles and a TPR (thermoplastic rubber) main knuckle provide the armor. There is elasticated stretch paneling across the fingers and the backhand which allows the armor to move ergonomically when working the controls. Finally, there is elastication at the wrist with a velcro adjuster in addition to a large single velcro cuff closure. The cuff is medium sized and long enough to go either over or under a jacket.

The Summit H2O, which again is also available as the REV'IT! Women's Summit H2O Glove, features the exact same protective elements as the Summit as far as hard part armor is concerned. The difference between the two is that the Summit H2O is entirely waterproof breathable thanks to REV'IT!'s Hydratex Pro Touch membrane. This membrane is bonded to the inside of the goatskin outer shell, ensuring that no matter the conditions your hands will stay dry. The other key difference is that the backhand in the Summit H2O features PWRShell 500D Kevlar Stretch fabric rather than being completely goatskin. Finally, knowing that you'll oftentimes be riding in wet conditions while wearing the Summit H2O Gloves, there is a visor wiper on the left index finger for quick shield cleans and a suede patch on the inner thumb and index finger to wipe your face.

No matter which of these gloves better suits your application, either one is going to perform extremely well in the conditions it was designed to excel in. REV'IT! continues to take designs of the past, figure out their shortcomings, and make dramatic improvements in the next version. The Summit and Summit H2O are another representation of REV'IT's progress.

REV'IT! Fly Gloves & REV'IT! Curb Gloves Review

Two new sport riding focused summertime gloves are going to be released from REV'IT! in Spring 2011 to complement the immensely popular REV'IT! Monster Gloves. The REV'IT! Fly Gloves provide excellent ventilation and safety features, while the REV'IT! Curb Gloves add upgraded protective elements for summertime rides. Of course, each of these gloves features slick design elements, as REV'IT! never sacrifices on style for the sport rider.

First up is our REV'IT! Fly Gloves Review:

The REV'IT! Fly Gloves feature a full goatskin and PU-coated cowhide exterior construction for the highest levels of abrasion resistance, but it is also fully perforated to flow the maximum amount of air on hot weather rides. The sleek design sets the REV'IT! Fly apart as the PU injected finger knuckle and main knuckle armor are completely leather wrapped to maintain the slick look of the glove. Elasticated stretch panels at the backhand and fingers allow for movement and let the armor move with the hand as you work the controls. The palm features a Schoeller-Keprotec panel that assists in preventing wearing down of the glove and also provides grip. For the price, you won't find many other gloves that feature the REV'IT! Fly Gloves in terms of
features, functionality and style for summertime sport riding.

Next is our REV'IT! Curb Gloves Review:

If you're looking to upgrade the protective elements of the REV'IT! Fly and REV'IT! Monster, the REV'IT! Curb Gloves will be your go-to summertime sport glove. Similar to the Fly, the Curb is a full goatskin and PU-coated cowhide construction. The perforation scheme is significantly scaled back to go along with the beefed-up protection. Both the main knuckle and finger knuckles are carbon fiber for exceptional impact protection, while the outside of the little finger is reinforced with leather and has a TPU hard shell protector. The palm features a dual comp slider, a protective element borrowed from REV'IT! race gloves. The rest of the palm is goatskin with Schoeller-Keprotec
paneling for wear resistance, EVA foam for vibration dampening, and cowhide reinforcements for abrasion resistance. The fingers are externally stitched, race-style, and pre-curved for comfort. There are multiple zones of double stitching throughout the glove for tear resistance and PWR|yarn is used throughout, an extremely high tensile strength thread. These gloves are simply the next level of functionality when it comes to hot weather sport and street riding. We think they're going to be an absolute home run in the sport riding and touring community for their go-to summer glove.

New Icon Sub Redeemer Gloves

The Icon Sub Redeemer Gloves are the newest offering in the Icon Sub Glove series. Featuring the same standout feature set as the line for a 45-dollar glove, the Icon Sub Redeemer has one asset that sets it apart from similarly priced gloves: a Battlehide Goatskin palm. The Redeemer is a summertime lightweight glove built for the sportbike guy that Icon caters to, with their aggressively-styled line of products.

The back of the hand on the Icon Sub Redeemer is a textile construction that will protect the hand and breathe well while the palm is made with goatskin leather for abrasion resistance and superior tactile feel. Injection-molded temperfoam inserts protect the fingers and plastic knuckle armor makes sure you won't get hurt in the event of a get-off. What's really cool is that the knuckle armor is actually punctuated and will provide ventilation when riding. The graphics on this glove are printed in a way that they simply will not fade over time.

In short, this is a great bang-for-the-buck product for 45 bucks. It pairs up with all the new Redeemer products from Icon, the Icon Alliance Redeemer Helmet and the Icon Contra Redeemer Jacket.

We're gonna keep rolling out the new Fall 2010 Icon Gear bit by bit, so stay tuned!

Alpinestars S-MX 2 Gloves: Urban Sport Riding

The lightweight and comfortable Alpinestars S-MX 2 Air Carbon Gloves draw their inspiration entirely from the motocross world. Aggressive MX styling with five color options, including a bright orange, the AStars SMX-2 Glove is a great urban street riding glove for the summertime.

The Alpinestars S-MX-2 Air Carbon glove is very straightforward in construction, a combination of mesh, clarino synthetic leather, and full-grain leather in the fabric areas. The carbon fiber knuckle protection is constructed on a flexible articulated panel which maintains the armor in its proper place whether you're gripping the controls or if your hand is fully extended. That's just a great subtlety of Alpinestars design. For added protection, there are plastic hard parts on the fingers and on the back of the hand. Silicone printing on the fingertips for increased grip, a rubberized velcro wrist closure, and a neoprene cuff round out the features on this great bang-for-the-buck glove.
